As a musician i found his thoughts on music profound.
ОтветитьI know this will be a redundant statement but what a miserable bastard
ОтветитьWas introduced to this philosophy at the most unlikely place, from an English space comedy Red Dwarf, a doctor uncovered on a derelict ship, now a dead and corrupted hologram, quoted;
"Schopenhauer was right, wouldn't you say? Life without pain has no meaning. Gentlemen! I wish to give your lives meaning..."
the part about the old woman falling down the stairs was wrong. he famously hated noise and women and actually, he did push her, which is why she won the case. he also commented on her death in Latin: "Obit Anus, Abit Onus" which means what you said but is more sadistic and clever with its wordplay
ОтветитьHe clearly despised women.
ОтветитьReality is why people invented the fantasy world of religion, in order to escape reality.
Human beings cannot face the harsh glare of reality for any period of time, any more than your tender living eye could gaze at the sun for very long before the pain caused you involuntarily to look away or close your eyes. Thus, the poor human race will never know truth, for the most part. Without exceptional luck, people sometimes are little more than masochistic slaves to their own survival instincts.
Schopenhauer totally busted Hegel. Hegel was a charlatan and an intellectual lightweight who spouted turgid idiocy which between the USSR, China, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela would eventually kill a hundred million or more people.
Schopenhauer knew bullshit when he saw it.
"Dark" lol. No, just reality.
ОтветитьShould rename the video to the Incel Philosophy of Copenhauer.
ОтветитьThanks for the vid

ОтветитьIgnorance has no beginning but it has an end
Knowledge has a beginning but it has no end
Your conscious soul lives forever, get perfect knowledge, have perfect relationship.
Apparently, he was more optimistic after a few beers.
Ответитьi recognize that painting in the thumbnail, it's from MAR1O
Ответитьgeorge carlin
ОтветитьDude would have been a lolcow if he was alive today
ОтветитьThere is still a heaven...or a hell after this life. No matter how much you try to dismiss it
ОтветитьNothing "dark" about Schopenhauer. Y'all just don't like truth.
ОтветитьExcellent. Thank you.

For the ones who know
Dark, Pessimistic- yes let's label this great thinker like that. It makes us feel like we are better thinkers than Arthur was. Medicine, philosophy, languages- yes, all because he was Dark at heart. Are you either thinking or listening to yourself Eternalized? "The old woman dies, the burden is lifted", and in the next breath you discuss his magnum opus. Comedy or Philosophy?
ОтветитьWhy do Westerners have to label everything. Pessimistism really?
ОтветитьUpanishad and Vedant, which concludes all Upanishad, is the basis of Hinduism which sadly is followed by very few Hindus
Ответить"Hinduism" is a misnomer.
ОтветитьSchopenhauer failed to transcend Vedanta and fully understand true Mahayana Buddhism wherein Life (existence) itself is neither being (life) nor non-being (death, if you will), but exhibits the attributes of both. Thus, both the void and objective reality exist in relationship to each other and there is no negation to rely upon. This is the actual meaning of “middle way” which has nothing whatsoever to do with moderation.
ОтветитьArthur Schopenhaeur is BRIGHT, reality is dark (for most people)
ОтветитьThe last chapter is one of the most valuable lessons to mankind, if not the most.
ОтветитьThe despair when you realize an average dog has more respectable qualities than any politician alive today.
ОтветитьIt would be interesting to reanimate Schopenhauer for a few minutes, just to show him some Tik Toks
ОтветитьArtie watch more tom and jerry
ОтветитьI believe that his stint as a stand up comedian was short lived
ОтветитьHis is one of many philosophical questions. It’s interesting to study them. There is so much to think about.

Ответить"Beware of modern media re-writing History." - Albert Einstein
ОтветитьHe looks like a pessimist.
Ответить🙏🙏🙏
ОтветитьSchopenhauer, a depressed idiot who rambled about how he didn't know how to handle his own depression
ОтветитьIt's all rhetoric, his dogs by everyday example showed him the truth and it went right over his head....
ОтветитьIt's no good mentioning Schopenhauer's epigram on the death of his landlady without giving it in the original Latin:
“Obit anus, abit onus.” [“The old woman dies, the burden is lifted.”]
Life is all memory
ОтветитьSchopenhauer is the inspiring beacon of my life. He is my light and my solace. I feel him as my mentor and even as the father I wish I had had. His writings always cheer me up, especially when he talks about love and sex, in an incredibly insightful way. His irony, his humour is witty and brilliant. The only thing I can’t agree with him is his musical preference for Rossini. He lived during the lifetime of Schubert, Beethoven, Mendelssohn or Schumann, all of them far superior to Rossini. But nobody is perfect. Not even the great Schopenhauer.
ОтветитьHe’s “right” in his belief, but his belief makes him sad. The best thing he can do is take part in the absurd. That’s eros—that’s life. Why turn away from it? Whether it is sad, made up and fabricated with illusions, yada yada…who cares? The best thing you can be, and the only “real” thing you can be (if you’re already being) is alive. Embrace the absurd
Ответитьoh no, life exists not due to a personal Will but to the Will of a community, the ideal example of community is a wolves pack.
ОтветитьRealistic and factual is not dark. Philosophy is not for wussies
