Nice ride sir, I've had the pleasure of working on newer auto cars trucks I think they were from the 50s they were over the road trucks some were flat beds and some fifth wheel all built like a tank and hade a appearance we now associate with big semi's
Ответить2000 pounds of coal in a lambo or Ferrari would tear it in half
ОтветитьJay, that is the coolest old truck, so glad you shared it with us. I would certainly chose that over many of your awesome hot rods for its historical value and uniqueness.
ОтветитьCan't believe there's still round the city trash truck is a Autocar
ОтветитьI'm thinking the original drivers were probably wearing denim
ОтветитьThat triple spring in the back though... 🤯
ОтветитьNow that’s pure garbage for todays market
ОтветитьHi Jay will pay top price on a coal delivery delivery.
ОтветитьYa sold me on it👍
ОтветитьAutocar are famous for heavy duty trucks, like, for example, garbage trucks. A local firm, Athens, has a large fleet operating in southern California today.
ОтветитьAutocar is still in business. Check with them.
ОтветитьIt also, looks like one of those old milk trucks
ОтветитьAUTOCARS GREATEST INVENTIONS WAS THE COMPLETELY ENCLOSED ENGINE CRANKCASE WITH AN OIL PUMP CIRCULATION OF OIL!
THE OTHER BEING THE LONGITUDINAL ENGINE, CLUTCH,
TRANSMISSION DRIVESHAFT AND CENTER DIFFERENTIAL!
Fun video. Why am I reminded of Jedd Clampett driving his family to Beverly Hills when I see Jay driving his Autocar and waving?
ОтветитьThis thing is way too cool! I love that the 0-60 time = NA, lol.
ОтветитьThe sound of the engine reminds me of those old time go-carts at Cedar Point...so cool!
ОтветитьThank you Jay. What a neat truck.
ОтветитьThis Autocar is great! I used to shovel coal to heat the house. An old dump truck delivered!
ОтветитьI'm sorry why don't I turn it on? Duh.
Bro it's midnight... I can't be laughing this loud. 😂👌
I noticed some kind of pointer on the flywheel. I assume it's for timing.
One thing I've never seen (and I often delve deep down the rabbit hole) is the leaf springs to the axle hanging off other leaf springs. That's cool.
Definitely they used to make things to last. Now everything is made cheep and don't last very long and cost a fortune to fix.
ОтветитьNow that what you call a horseless carriage
ОтветитьAnd it has heated seats! Nice!
ОтветитьDon't Boxers, by definition, fire opposing pistons simultaneously while Flat engines do not? That is my understanding of Boxer vs Flat.
ОтветитьAwesome video! Quirky question…anyone recognise the brands of jeans and boots Jay is wearing? Love them!
ОтветитьMOTOR does not mean electric motor, it means anything. It is an interchangeable term - which millennials and zoomers who are stupidly ignorant and brainwashed by electric cars think every word can only have one meaning and it is the only meaning they know. Where do you think the term MOTOR-CAR came from? Morons.
Ответитьတောထဲကြံခုပ်ပြောင်ခုပ်လယ်ယာသုံးလို့ယနိုင်သည်
ОтветитьHow tight is the steering on such a vehicle?
Calming?
Jay seems tired.
ОтветитьI 've always been afraid a wooden wheel would fail on some of his cars, cant be a good thing.
ОтветитьI'm not too far from Philly in NEPA and I know how cold it would have been chugging along in that thing on a February morning. Love Jay Leno for keeping these awesome pieces of history and sharing his vast knowledge about automotive history.
ОтветитьI loved this episode.
My grandfather, Mike Zengel from Bryn Mawr, PA worked for Autocar. I have a picture of him standing next to a body less, spoke wheeled chassis for something or other. His brother Len actually raced at Indianapolis in 1912.
It's amazing to think trucks like these were running on the same streets as horses, which required more "maintenance" and down time, so a truck became a better investment in the long run.
every vehicle more interesting than the last
ОтветитьWhen my dad was a teenager, they would drive their model T at 25 miles an hour and the neighbors would yell at him for going so fast. He said they would call him a dare devil for driving so fast. hahaha (Dad was born in 1924.)
ОтветитьThis seems like something that would be enjoyable to drive on a dirt road or through an orchard
ОтветитьThis man, has it all and knows how to enjoy it :)
ОтветитьIs there a Jay Leno museum? I would love to see it. If so, I got it on my bucket list! 😎👍 . . keep cool J
ОтветитьJay said civil war vets built it, that war happened 56 years before. I doubt any vets from that war had a part to play in building these.
ОтветитьThat's why I like doing tractor rides because you're only going about 13 to 14 miles an hour and you get to see the countryside
ОтветитьThat is everything a truck Should be.
I love this vehicle.
Pretty soon Jay will have to watch his own videos to recall how to start his own vehicles !!
ОтветитьHey honey, good news! I just got a job driving a brand new state of the art coal truck around philly. The previous driver lost half his fingers and toes due to frostbite last month, but, the buck fifty per day they're going to pay me is well worth the risk...I told ya' our ship would finally come in someday!
ОтветитьForgive me if this is covered elsewhere. What brand of work boots does Mr. Leno favor? — the pedal level footage was great!
ОтветитьWatch your speed
ОтветитьBet back then they didn't angle/triple park in (mall) lot, drape a hand on the wheel, have asinine stickers all over, freak-out about a 1" hairline scratch in the air hauler (I mean bed), and they carried coal, not rolled it like a childish punk.
ОтветитьJay has too many vehicles????????????? Naaaaahhhhhhhhhh. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьThe research you have to do in order to operate the old vehicles.
ОтветитьIgnore the people that don't think combustion engines are motors. They probably weren't around before 1990.
Ответить
