This is one of the most overpowered weapons in the entire game, it's obtainable once the Twins drop the loot and it remains relevant all the way to Moon Lord!

When i was using the flamelash i instantly knew it was one of my favorite weapons, when i looked up a sockrteez video on it and found nothing, i found it to be weird, only to realize the rainbow rod is just a more visually appealing stronger option!!

this is honestly my favorite weapon during my first playthrough

The rainbow rod (along with a shadow beam staff) made me start a mage playthrought because it was so fun to use

You can beat the duke with this and the queen slime mount.

Why is single target DPS not higher than 200?

as a mage player, i am 100% agree with you that rainbow rod is also overpowered, because when i use that mage weapon, that weapon is a ultimate killer weapon, because of that case rainbo rod become one of my favorite mage weapon

In the 3ds version, you can also get the rainbow rod from chaos elementals.

As a console player it actually can be annoying to use bc it works so much better without smart cursor on controller

The rainbow rod is so satisfying with spectre armor

I always love obliterating Tier 2 old one’s army by just standing still and shooting the rainbow rod left and right.

this is so sick! i love this weapon, its cool, its fun to use, and its pretty strong, i managed to beat skeletron prime first try, im so shit this weapon is too good

I used this against Plantera in a mage run, it did great because it destroyed a lot of the vines while still hitting the boss.

the rainbow rod is a mix of that one dungeon staff (does single aoe damage) and the one you get from shadow chests in the underworld (pierce 2 times), so now its a faster rod, pierce 3 and each pierce does AOE, the 2 pre hardmode rods are surprisingly fun to use and really powerful during pre hardmode, and its good to upgrade it to this one for hardmode, its surprisingly powerful on bosses due to you almost can not miss using this, and the potential aoe blast on multiple part of the bosses

with the right kit, the rainbow rod is actually really broken. with the rainbow gun, magnet sphere and spectre armor you can get a massive damage output and its very fun because theres little to no risk involved.

Fun fact: there IS in fact a hardmode pre mech bosses version of this. I think it’s called the hell fire but idk it’s gotten from fishing in hell in hardmode and has a chance to get it from a hell crate. It’s a decent wepon till u get the rainbow rod

Is this worth getting still if I'm playing mage and just defeated all 3 mech bosses? Or should I go for something else? I'm on a crimson world btw so not really feeling like hopping worlds to grind for the spirit flame

Worth mentioning is this is my first ever playthrough of terraria so I'm very bad at the game lol
