Both of these cartoons have been under common ownership since 1981, when Tom and Jerry's then-owners MGM bought United Artists, which held the rights to most pre-1950 WB titles, including all color cartoons released prior to August 1948 such as Rhapsody Rabbit, since buying a.a.p. in 1958.

The a.a.p.-owned WB titles and MGM's own pre-May 1986 film and TV library were among what Turner Entertainment kept after its failed acquisition of all of MGM, as such the copyrights to Rhapsody Rabbit and The Cat Concerto have been held by Turner Entertainment since 1986. Turner Broadcasting System was then purchased by Time Warner in 1996, and Turner Entertainment is now an in-name-only unit of WB.

Turner's copyrights on Rhapsody Rabbit and The Cat Concerto will expire on January 1, 2042, as works can be copyrighted a maximum of 95 years in the US, and 2042 will be 96 years after 1946. While the latter didn't get general release until April 1947, it carries a 1946 copyright notice, and US law stipulates that the copyright term begins on the date according to the notice in the work.

lot of people love cat concerto but i choose rhapsody rabbit because of three things 1 the artwork is beautfiul(i dont hate the tom and jerry one but to me in rhapsody rabbit the theatre looks like that bugs bunny is performing at the oscars or something 2: bugs shoots coughing man and 3: i liked the franz lizt joke as a hungarian

Not even close comparison, rhapsody rabbit sucks. I get the joke is how casual bugs is about it vs tom being so formal that he refuses to make noise, but the music getting interrupted so awkwardly flat out wrecks RR, and makes me angry watching it.
