As a New Zealander, I would not be surprised if this influenced "Six Months in a Leaky Boat" by Split Enz.

In those days if the lyrics weren't on the LP sleeve you either listened intently specifically for the lyrics or like me got a general impression which took decades to resolve into an appreciation of how subtle and complex they are.

They lifted this intro/theme/melody to create "Tony's Theme" for Scarface. It's immediately what comes to mind when hearing it. Tony Montana, machine guns, and lots of coke. It's a beautiful song, though.
