As a monster Hunter world fan with over 100 hours on the game. I always thought I would make a good movie. To find out that atrocity exists is just... I just can't describe it. It's shit shit and more shit.

The irony of the Angry Birds perceived xenophobic/right wing subtext is that the directors of the film are actually fairly left leaning.
I guess they just wrote the story for a funny bird movie without taking it too seriously or thinking through the social/political implications… 🤷‍♂️

The only reason Hasbro transformers adoption work because of the cars in this CGI was awesome in those movies with Michael Bay but video game movies just doesn't have that support for me to Turning Mario and Sonic into a movie abduction it's just plain lame its not very good and i am not a gamer so there is no point of making movies like that cuz video games as films dont work as good as comic book movies and u will never beat superhero movies at all from the 2000s/2010s.

I'll admit that to this day I can't watch the first Pokemon movie without crying. The 2 main ones are Pikachu trying to escape the balls and growing weaker with each attack and seeing him getting worn down while the other is Pikachu trying to revive Ash. I'm 28 years old and still get choked up with Ed just mentioning the scenes.

I feel like if Devil May Cry had a movie, a majority of it would DBZ action scenes with music ranging from something upbeat if it's Nero, hard rock/heavey metal if it's Dante, Bury the light for Virgil, with the protags doing something goofy simultaneously. Like Nero hamming it up or Dante trying to enough a pizza. The rest of the screen time would be the villians progressing the plot, Virgil being Virgil, and there's inevitably going to be fan service with either Trish or Lady.

The pokemon movie was really good in my opinion

It is unlikely you'll see this, but I'll say it anyway: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution is actually just a more faithful adaptation of the Japanese version of the original movie, instead of the original script being toned down.

Any time you make a remake, or an adaptation in any direction, you get the issue of having to balance the source material with new stuff. Whether it is a book, movie, tv show, game or real-life event, each way of telling a story has its own advantages and disadvantages. Adapting means you need change, because a direct translation isn't going to work (just imagine if the adaptation of Street fighter or Mortal Kombat had the characters act identical to the in-game fights), but if you stray too far then it's just a different story with the names of the original on it

Not sure if someone has mentioned it already but the script of the first Pokemon movie was changed by 4kids,not just some lines of dialogue but the entire personality of characters like Mew and Mewtwo.

This happened so often in the 80s and 90s I started to think it was an actual rule. Movies that have proper endings ANWAYS get sequels and movies that tell you they’re setting up for the next movie NEVER get sequels, unless they’re alreay part 2 of a trillogy.

The truth is provably closer too; there is a correlation between producers/directors who spend more time thinking about the next movie rather than making THIS movie good, and being crap.

It’s actually more of a trend than a rule, and some movies definitely broke it, but there you go.

Apparently, the guys behind the Angry Birds movies are pretty standard center-leftists with no ill will towards minorities or immigrants. With that in mind, I'm willing to wager the premise of the movie being what it is was meant to be satire of conservative foreign policy and race relations (basically by taking that whole idea and making it into a story about talking cartoon birds and pigs as a way to make it look as silly on the outside as it really is when you read into it). The fact that 20th Century-Fox, then owned by the right-wing Rupert Murdoch, was releasing the movie probably made it easier for the crew behind the movie to do such a satire, because the higher ups would have probably taken it to be right-wing propaganda (aka the exact same shit they themselves broadcast on Fox News) if they even noticed at all.

I like most video game adaptations.

Honestly if there's something good that I can say about the Postal movie is that it's somehow pretty accurate to Postal 2 and it's probably because the creator of the series was directly involded with Uwe Boll on the movie (he even makes a cameo)
Because like the taliban, the Krotchy dolls, the whole thing about the Dude's uncle who is a cult leader, offensive humour, it's all very accurate to the game
The only problem this movie has is that it's a Uwe Boll movie but other than that, I'd say it's quite faithful

It feels like modern video game movies went from the issue of "No one can display the game well" to "No one can pick a fitting actor." Especially with uncharted picking the guy known for looking 14 all the time to play Nathan drake.
