Gotta love how the Oscars will complain over and over about falling view rates but then will also try to cut or remove the things people like to keep the things they like instead

Yay! Everyone gets equal votes! Even those dishonest normies with absolute zero experiences who only vote for their snotty little kids have the exact same value as the experts with decades of experiences with the medium! That's how democracy works after all!
They should also let their little bratty kids vote for them in the presidential election too, choosing the funniest looking president who also loves candies like they do but also wants to reintroduce the segregation law just because of cooties!

But seriously, the system needs a biased hierarchy based on people's experience with the medium such as animators and animation enthusiasts. All those normies would get the lowest value, especially when they are dishonestly voting for someone else rather than their own honest personal thoughts which should be a disclaimer before they send their votes. Maybe the awards would be split by a smaller normie's favorite award too.
With today's tech, we can sort votes based on many things such as demographics, keywords and phrases. That would also be interesting statistical data to read.

This award was introduced in 2001 (despite Beauty and the Beast being nominated for Best Picture a decade earlier) meaning that it missed out on Iron Giant, Prince of Egypt, Secret of Nymh, Mask of the Phantasm, and countless others.

The Oscars is disgusting. I worked in the film industry and I found out that Best Editing is such a poorly understood category and because nominations and voting happen with the At Large group and the entire academy respectively and they are frequently just the same movies in the best feature category with over 70% of all best features also winning best editing. Unless you have a movie like Birdman which does something unique in its editing, no one notices when editing is actually good, they only notice when it's jarring or off.

I have watched both Boxtrolls and big hero 6. Not only did Boxtrolls probably take more effort being stop-motion, but I just like it more than big hero 6 because to me, big hero 6 felt like a stale movie. Nothing too special.

Seriously, I remember one instance where something like the Madoka Magica Rebellion movie was passed over in favor of the Boss Baby 2 I think it was, with the judges even admitting to them not even watching the thing, thinking that all animation is for kids.
Meanwhile, anyone who has watched Madoka Magica and its related media will know, that is no kids show.

The concept of having a system that compares movies makes people extremely judgmental about what movies are good or not. Let’s get rid of the Academy Awards as a whole and if we like a movie say we like it. No comparison needed

It really irks me how, at least in the United states, maybe this is different in other countries since apparently many countries get animation funding from the government, but i digress, If a movie is appropriate for all audiences, it's seen as for kids, and the only way for it to not be seen as for kids is if it's incredibly crass, immature, and stuffed full of sex and gore and jokes that punch down constantly towards people and all look like they're trying to rip off Family guy really really badly, at which point they become for Adults only, there is rarely if ever an exception and when there is, like the Simpsons which is watched by people of ALL ages, and is one of the biggest animated properties in the world, it seems to go ignored in this conversation. Art just seems to be pushed to the wayside in America, like all these institutions try their hardest to keep art like animation down and prevent it from being respected at all costs.

What do you call it if you're not disillusioned, but were never "illusioned" to begin with? I've never given a shit about the Oscars. I've always seen it as suits sucking each other off over how much money they made this year. I honestly don't understand how anyone outside of Hollywood cares about them. It's mindblowing to me that people care what some random group of Hollywood big wigs thinks the best movie of a year is instead of just caring about whatever their own preference is. It's not like the movies that win oscars are even all that fun most of the time.

The Joke of The Millenium -

"Boss Baby" Once won Oscars for poo poo and "A Silent Voice" Literally remained silent for Oscars.

Oscars sucks for me since then. The global hearts always awarded their beats to movies like "A Silent Voice" and "Your Name" and i believe even the makers know that this is the only reward they want and they are getting it.

Keep loving those real anime makers guys. Let Oscars suck their own ***

Apart from the claim animation just being for kids obviously being bullshit, it's always said with such an insulting connotation. Even if it was aimed at children? SO. FUCKING. WHAT.

Not only can works targeted at children have deep, meaningful messages and themes for audiences across all ages and often feature clever lines and moment only adults will get, too, there is just nothing wrong with enjoying content that is for kids as an adult. There's nothing wrong with preserving yourself an inner childhood, also not giving a shit what other people think about what you like is about the most adult thing you can do. I'd argue it's actually immature to reject something solely because it is "not adult enough" for you. There's a good quote by C. S Lewis to back me up here:

"Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up."
