I’ve always had the greatest respect for all the military. Nothing but contempt for the politicians who start wars that our youth fight and die for. ☺️🇦🇺
ОтветитьChills and tears.
Thank you.
Seems shallow to say but you have to live in your own bubble only to have the life you see :)
ОтветитьI cry every time I listen to this song, stunningly beautiful and the best anti war song ever written.
ОтветитьMy dad fite for his city and all most, died from the army by guse.
ОтветитьThis song is beautiful and terrible all at the same time. And it is sad. My mother had 2 uncles who took part in the first day of the Suvla Bay landings. Both were wounded, both decorated for bravery. At the end of the day, there are no victors in war, no glory, mankind loses.
ОтветитьLest Ye Forget Greater Love Hath No Man. We will Remember them. Royal Australians. Of the Kingdom Of Australia. Amen
ОтветитьA Vietvet says that's beautiful and truthfully heartbreaking at the same time. Thank you.
ОтветитьAustralian veteran 2025
ОтветитьIt is Anzac day today and like every Anzac day I play this song and have a little cry. It is the most poignant of songs about events we should never forget, but never wish to happen again. We Australians should always remember the courage and sacrifice of our brave soldiers.
ОтветитьI just attended the ANZAC Dawn service at Port Noarlunga RSL in South Australia. A young cadet girl sang this and it was a tear jerker. She certainly done it justice.
ОтветитьHappy Anzac Day Cobbers!
Ответить<3
ОтветитьNo more brother wars.
ОтветитьCan anyone listten to this song without crying?
ОтветитьThis song was sung at our local Anzac day dawn service yesterday. I love the song, it's brilliant, but I'm a traditionalist when it comes to Anzac day. Lots of people said how good it was. It was a great rendition by the old mate who sang it, but i'd rather we maintain historical precedence on this one day alone, without adding recent things to it, no matter how good they might be.
Ответитьdedicate to all Anzacs god bless them RIP.
ОтветитьI just learned about an Anzac Day and how all peoples fought to keep us safe and free. Respect Anzac from NJ The Garden State 🇺🇸🇦🇹🇨🇦🇳🇿
ОтветитьThank you Eric. Your song, is a beautiful rendition of our brave, innocent ancestors.❤
ОтветитьWish I could find this exact set to download. The others have more instruments. This sounds more pure …
ОтветитьTruly all wars are banker wars! See The Creature From Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin
ОтветитьI first heard this sung by the late Chris Kempster, who introduced me to the music of Eric Bogle. I was lucky enough to record Chris singing it as well as I Hate Wogs.
ОтветитьSuch a beautiful song
Ответить😭 so sad.
ОтветитьThis is the saddest, most beautiful anti-war song ever written. I weep every time I hear it. Gods bless you,Eric Bogle. Old men start the wars. Young men die in them. When will it stop?
ОтветитьLeider immer noch hoch aktuell.
ОтветитьMy grandfather and great uncle served in France with the Australian Army in 1917 and were both seriously wounded and repatriated home. Although they died prior to my birth the stories I heard from my parents of the living hell they endured due to PTSD, the night mares, anger, violence and drunkenness were the result of never receiving the help soldiers receive today. My 26 years of service in the Canadian military saw me participate in several UN missions and peacekeeping in Bosnia and Kosovo, but never direct combat. Living in Canada for most of my life I still celebrate ANZAC day in memory of my relatives who have served Australia in WW1 and WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan, where members of my immediate and extended family have served, some of them giving the ultimate sacrifice. We will remember them.
ОтветитьNo one sings it like Liam ☘️
ОтветитьWar happens when leaders are too stupid to find peace. Nice tribute to the brave souls and to their families
ОтветитьI didn't know there was worse things than dying. It's enough to make a brave man weep.
ОтветитьDamn, I remember my youth growing up proud to be Australian. I am now even more determined to be the best Australian man I can be. It makes me cry when I look at what my Australia is today. I have written a poem that I treasure about my memories of the most wonderful people and country in the world.
ОтветитьThank you, Eric Bogle!!!! Not many can take a classic and make another classic.. You are looking great.
ОтветитьOmg!! How could you do that to a beautiful song like this!! Greedy bastards will put an add anywhere. Beautiful song sung beautifully only ruined by greed.
ОтветитьI just had a Fecken add come up during this song !!! 😠😠😡
Ответить😢one of the most underated anti-war songs
Ответитьthis song brings back a memory. about 1954 0r 56 the memorial day parade dis banded about 3 blocks from where i lived. several of us young boys were siting on our bicycles watching. saw a bunch of old men crying so i rode over to where they were. their banner said veterans of the Spanish/Amercan war of 1898. "remembor the Maine".' charge up San Juan hill. " you want to talk about a long forgoten war. a prime example.
ОтветитьOur son is 42 and stage 4 terminal cancer. He sings this song as he strums the guitar. I don't just weep I sob.
ОтветитьWell, it's now 5 years ahead, from my last comment bellow !!!!
Ответить72 years old and try and sing along every time I hear this song, but there’s a catch in my throat, and tears in my eyes every time.
ОтветитьThere has been a lot of water under the proverbial bridge Eric.......
You would remember Peter Thornton, from the "South Coast Folk Club".
He too has left us now, and so we rely more on the likes of you to carry on... xoxox
My grandfather served. He was at Gallipoli for 13weeks before being seriously wounded. Medivaced to England and after 18month rejoined. Sent to France and sailed from Nice and was torpedoed on SS Transylvania. 430 souls perished that morning May 4 1917. Finally got to Jordan and fought there until hit with a bomb. Sent to Egypt to recover but was injured too badly to continue and Sent back to NZ. Home before the war finished. Always walked with a bad limp and had injuries that plagued him until he passed at 78.
ОтветитьUSA memorial Day this weekend and this song just fits. God bless all that gave all. No matter what country they're from
ОтветитьWhat an incredible song, everyone should know this. Sacred indeed.
ОтветитьYou know something. I may be wrong but I think Eric's songs are probably the most covered by international artist more than any other Australian song writer. The names who covered his songs from the Dubliners, The Fureys and Joan Baaez.: to mention a few.
ОтветитьBeautiful
ОтветитьI have moved from Adelaide to Bunbury, Western Australia, about 13 or so years ago. In about a month, Eric Bogle is playing here in my new home town.... (And we are booked in !!! xox). Of course we are all sad for the parting of John Monroe.... You will still find the accompiament where ever you are !!!! xox
ОтветитьI was raised in a Mennonite home & a Peace Church and while I believe people have the right of self defense - most Wars aren’t that….just a terrible loss of life - and insanity. Remembrances for the fallen & prayers for their families
