Cat AI does not understand how to path around door! >:3
ОтветитьHey I noticed he was saying his cat instead cats something happen to despy?
ОтветитьPlug up the under door gap buddy, no paws will get through
ОтветитьI love the cat🐈⬛🐈
ОтветитьShe's not using A*
Need to get a patch in or refresh her path cache.
A closed door is an affront to nature for cats.
ОтветитьI love day9 but ill never understand his persistent need to touch his cats bunghole then proceed to touch his face/mouth. And he does it ALL THE TIME.
ОтветитьBut this kind of wayfinding is exactly what Day9 praised about Broodwar. Seems like he got the perfect cat and he just needs to learn to appreciate having to micromanage its movement.
ОтветитьSo I always have my door closed.
My cat never really scratches at my door.
But my cat will always, ALWAYS, follow me into my room when I have food.
Not even for the food, she'll be completely disinterested in what I'm eating beyond maybe just looking to see what I have.
No. Usually she'll run into my room, run straight to the bathroom, and expect me to open that door.
And when she's in there, half the time she'll want me to open the little doors under the sink.
Why?
Because cats like making you open doors.
She'll even sometimes park herself in the doorway for a bit because she doesn't want it closed as soon as she goes through.
I wonder if you could cover up the bottom of the door with something or block it with something on both sides.
ОтветитьCat logic at it's best 🤣
ОтветитьCat Flap?
ОтветитьCan't you just temporarily move the bookshelf or some furniture in front of that door until they learn that the new path is available?
ОтветитьYep thats 100% a cat
ОтветитьPut a shelf in the hallway in front of the door. Inside the room cover it with some cloth. Once it doesn't look like a door anymore. The cat won't treat it like one either.
ОтветитьCats & doors man, eventually they understand there's a door to the house and there's an outside world and all they do is meow at the only door left in the entire apartment building.
I would probably put something in front of both sides of the door so that they don't look like doors.
sean is just a wonderful story teller
and artist
It doesn't sound like Sheriff is ever going to figure this out lol, poor thing. Have you considered putting a cat flap in the door? No guarantees that she will understand how the cat flap works but it might be worth a try :) Either way, I hope she figures it out soon!
ОтветитьThe cat has learned 2 things:
1) I am not allowed to act of my own free will to go into the other part of the house (because of the dog)
BUT
2) If I meow, day9 will come pick me up and move me (after the dog)
Instead, try gently herding her around the corner next time
The time after that, lead her with treats
The time after that, use a toy string or something to lead her
Repeat, and she should learn over time that she can move where she wants.

I just very recently started watching again after a few years' break. He only talks about Sheriff and "cat" in singular now. What happened to Despy? </3
ОтветитьThis is the content I want from this channel
Ответитьimagine being a human being deeming itself so intelligent that it would pseudo-legitimate making fun of an allegedly-dumb being of another species, even painting funny pictures about it, while not even being able to grasp the other beings perspective on the matter & how to train it accordingly & thus solve the problem. classic. keep carrying her out of laziness, impatience and lack of intellectual horizon. ape <3
ОтветитьDid Day J put a cat fur on a little baby dragoon?
ОтветитьUmm is that a blueprint? Paging @DearModern!
ОтветитьAs someone who owned a cat and has friends with cats, we all have or had the litter box in the bathroom! Why not put it there? It can't be too small if it has two doors, right? I'd rather have cat sand on the bathroom floor than on the office floor.
ОтветитьMan thanks for that story! It made me laugh during a security check on Poland airport and this made the guard stop me and ask if I’m on drugs.
I had to explain I was laughing at a story my friend told me about his cat and the guard didn’t buy it.
And yes, I’m not kidding
Solution. Put a drape or curtain on the other side of the door maybe he won’t see it as a door anymore. Maybe.
ОтветитьBro, day9, buddy, listen
Install a kitty door into that always-closed-door
That now becomes the door that the cat uses
Everyone is happy
I would put a towel or something under the blocked door so she can't paw under it, then put some treats or some canned food in the bathroom midpoint, or a trail of treats along the route from hallway to office. Have your wife have the cat in the other area and then you call the cat with a toy / treat, see if she can figure it out; if so, just repeat a few times to lock in the learned behavior. If she continues to meow at the door, break it up into stages and get her to find you in the bathroom, then get her to find you standing in the doorway of your office, then get her to find you when you're at your desk, etc. Incremental steps. Idk if cat training is the same as dog training, but with positive reinforcement and treats (aka bribery), anything is possible. Another comment also emphasized the cat's POV and not teleporting her when she meows, which I agree is good advice.
ОтветитьCats just be like that maybe try a catdoor
ОтветитьThe concept of 'learned helplessness' shouts at me with this story about your silly cat.
Also rip dog 🐕 🙏 😢
Place bookshelfs or a closet at both sides of that door so your cat no longer recognizes it as an openable object. problem solved <3
ОтветитьHave you considered just covering up the door so that it looks like a wall to Sheriff?
ОтветитьA wall hanging that blocks the door and a blanket or towl to block door jam might put the door out of the path for the kitty. Good luck with your silly kitty
ОтветитьGet some Detour signs.

ОтветитьMore cat content please!
ОтветитьJust get a cat door in the closed door?
ОтветитьClever letter 61
Ответить: Make a little cat door in the door.
ОтветитьMy dog used to scratch the doors that were closed, so we would open those thinking that he wanted to go out of that closed room, but no, he just wanted to open the door. That's it, closed doors stressed him out.
ОтветитьYou trained the cat to recognize a door being closed for years that it needs assistance to get through, and now it doesn't know any other way.
ОтветитьIt's like watching him John Madden my life
ОтветитьCute eagle 11
ОтветитьI'm sorry to inform you that your cat is a goliath.
ОтветитьConsidering the amount of doors that I've tried to open and couldn't in video games, I relate too hard to the cat. You go cat.
ОтветитьMy little furball has a similar challenge when it comes to doors. When I'm in the bathroom, she uses her weight to push the door open and meow at me. Literally ANY other door that also opens towards the inside and is theoretically also "cat-pushable" is an unsurmountable obstruction to her. Same deal with the woeful mewling until I go and open it for her :D
ОтветитьWhy not just remove the door and replace it with a wall? No more door, no mor cat paws under the door because there is no wall.
Hopefully she will then understand that there is another way.
Wall off the hallway when you exit the bathroom so that sherif can't get to the door to begin with it's looks like enough space for a makeshift closet.
