I’m very humbled by this video, thank you
ОтветитьIndianapolis also has a very authoritative but short lived stamp on jazz music. Indiana Avenue produced Freddie Hubbard, JJ Johnson, and Wes Montgomery and many more. Indiana Ave was demolished the blacks moved out to make way for IUPUI. Only things standing are Madame CJ Walker building and a few plaques commemorating the history. Unfortunately, these stories are all too common.
ОтветитьLove this. Thank You.
ОтветитьAudio 101: don't accept room echo ... mic should be reasonably close to mouth.
ОтветитьMy Uncle was a dancer at the Savoy in the late 40's into the mid 50's and he was and still is a Be-Bop dancer. The idea that Be-bop couldn't be danced to comes from the outside perspective of white writers. Amiri Baraka wrote about this in "Blues People"
ОтветитьThe way I see it, there was jazz before and after Bird. Bird first getting to NY is like year 0 for me. He changed everything.
ОтветитьGreat…not 100% accurate, but a good try😎
ОтветитьI cannot believe that a video editor spelled B flat 7th, with a G sharp. Very clearly needs an A flat as the 7th. Great to see Bobby in this clip- it would take quite long time to describe Charlie Parkers contributions to harmony.
Ответитьummm huh?
ОтветитьWhat? I've always danced to bebop !
Fits my dancing style perfectly.
THANK YOU!! Very educational...and accurate!!
ОтветитьChet baker and charlie parker coleman hawkins presents duke ellington ❤
ОтветитьIf you can't dance to Bird then I really feel sorry for you. The idea that no one danced to Parker's music is one of the greatest tragedies of Jazz
ОтветитьWe need a video also of Louis Armstrong, miles Davis, John Coltrane, dizzy, and monk
ОтветитьYou left out a very important musical source that helped create jazz, and that is European melody and harmony. There never would of been a Charlie Parker if it wasn't for German musicians like Bach.
ОтветитьGreat video👍🏾thnx for the knowledge
ОтветитьYep...A black kid from Kansas who changed music forever.......Don't tell me there ain't no GOD...!
ОтветитьThis is too HEAVY for me. I'm self taught, you have to be a schooled musician with knowledge of theory to fully appreciate Parker....
ОтветитьA perfect Summary of bird. Thanks
Ответитьthat last chorus from BW at the very end ! sheeeeesh!!!!!!!
