I’ve always had the same thought. Whenever I talk to someone about ski gear, boots are the one thing I say to get fitted by a professional and don’t buy online. You can have a good time on a bad pair of skis, not so much on a bad pair of boots.

I live in Illinois right near a little ski hill, but it’s already getting colder. I’m so excited

If you don't have comfortable boots you are not going to perform well. It's just common sense! Go try some on in person and see how much better you ski with comfortable boots.

You need a new helmet - if yours doesn’t have MIPS in it.

I'd probably add in a half-decent set of goggles too. Skiing with goggles that fog all the time isn't fun.

Good boots, comfy helmet, good water proof pants, good base layer and goggles that dont fog up to me are the most important. Boots are your interface between your body and your gear. THey need to fit, be comfy, and have your foot not move around to much while you are putting stress on them. ALso nice water proof pants. I usually prefer to take my breaks somewhere on the mountain and enjoy the view and have a snack. But nothing ruins that like cheaper pants that water leaks through as you are sitting down
