I have a rather large page <350k but as of March 16th there was an abrupt shift. Since then I've lost approximately 5k followers and there's no sign of it letting up. I've never seen anything like this before. I'm to the point where Instagram is no longer enjoyable and I'm considering shutting down the page.

No, DON'T start with a "fresh account". I did that and after 3 weeks, my account is now totally blocked not because of anything I did, but because I had the audacity to try and follow more than 5 people in one day, try and upload more than a dozen things in a day or because the idiots who run Instagram decided they were bored and needed to mess with someone.

I got a pop up today saying my account was 180 days banned, no other reason aside from their algorithms detected unusual activity. Also, this decision is final, but if you want to appeal, fine, whatever, give us your email and we'll keep you informed of your appeal process. Phhfft, what, from me trying to build a basic account? They can keep it and get bent.

Instagram is a stuffy, pretentious and restricted version of Tumblr or X. I don' even get why it's popular. It's like being invited to a party, but you can't eat or drink anything, don't sit down and don't talk to anyone and no, you can't use the bathroom.. but have a great time.

Instagram SUCKS. Facebook doesn't even suck as bad, and it's hard to believe it's the same p.o.s. corporation running it.

But no, starting a new account will get you the same results I encountered today. "Oh, well, you must have been doing something weird". No, nothing. Just uploading memes I've uploaded to Facebook in the past with never a problem (not even controversial or political ones), and some cool 80's album covers, just to personalize the account and after a few weeks, bam, account suspended. Screw it, no more.

I have a reel I posted as recent as 1 month ago on 1.4 million views. But this past week I can’t get 100 likes on a picture 😅 My pictures never did great anyway, but they still got 400-600 likes in the past

I finally joined less than a year ago. I don't get why everyone loves IG this much, it's been crap. No engagement, I get blocked from liking/commenting for no reason because it's "suspicious activity" (?). I don't bother with IG anymore.

Instagrams only been showing my content to my followers recently- I'm glad my followers are seeing my stuff ofc but how am I supposed to grow if my contents not being shown to non followers?

It’s interesting: Im Getting normal engagement and reach, even with many posts being seen by non followers, but new followers are extremely low, usually dipping into the negative.

Account status is in the green and as I said, accounts engaged and reach are normal.

I have had comment violations on a comment about Vegetables, on Citizenship, on condilences for a house fire, IM SOOO ANGRY that my account continues to be flagged for comments that are 100% clean and innocent.. SOOOO angry

ive been a user of instagram since it came out... i was one of the first users... back then it was amazing... but when facebook bought it it changed dramatically... it sucks real hard now... their rules are hypocritical... im not even talking about reach... it like they dont want u to open ur mouth if u not willing to follow their agenda...

This video didn’t even mention the importance of reel music… i was expecting it but no a single thing about it. I’ve noticed reel music is so important to getting views. You can post the same exact video twice but one may perform better with a more trending song. I had a reel hit 6+ million videos on a 6s clip. Others 1-2+ million. Reel music is the most important

I’ve recently had much more engagement as with some of my friends - but had much lower engagement for a long time. 😅

What no one is talking about is changing user behaviours on social media in general. People are becoming less inclined to actively engage with content (like, comment, share, save, etc) and are turning into silent participants. That creates a viscious cycle, because of the way the algorithm works. If the 10% or however much of your audience doesn't interact with your content, it doesn't get pushed forward - and if it doesn't get pushed forward, your reach doesn't go up, obviously.

They just removed recent top post and top post as well lol this app is going down the drain

This is exactly why I'm launching a you tube channel. Tired of making the quick hit dopamine short vids. Unfortunately, those are what gets you views and followers now.... but thinking about it, are those the type of followers I want anyway?
