Why the high shutter speed for portraits? I thought 1/1000 and higher was usually for sports? Are you just trying to mitigate strong sunlight?

For close-up shots, are you referring to cropping as in post editing cropping or pre-crop? Curious to know whether to take close-up shots up close or stand back a bit and crop it during post-edit

I keep hearing the term "photo that tells a story," but im unclear. In your example, i saw a woman looking away. I saw one looking at the camera. What does filling the frame in landscape have to do with that notion?
