Fascinating, unusual geometry rescued from the wood pile. Amazing
ОтветитьAnother beauty, Gary. I agree and love the contrast between the spalting and the dark wood. Is that carving on your lathe a self portrait?
ОтветитьWow nice looking bowl 👍
ОтветитьBeautiful! Odd pieces make unusual shapes, my favorite!
ОтветитьVery pretty spalting, great finish. I've been trying to use shellac to finish with, without much luck. After seeing this, I think I'm using the wrong sanding sealer. Been using water based, cellulose sealer. Do you reckon it makes a difference?
Mark
Pretty nice piece. Thanx

ОтветитьThat's the best looking piece of firewood I've ever seen, lol. Great job Gary, that came out killer!! The grain and the spalt looks amazing!!
ОтветитьHi Gary....great save from your wood pile...beautiful result...All the best.....Andy
ОтветитьI really like your finishes. They are the highlight of your videos. This bowl was exceptionally well done! I notice you have a wood spirit on top of the lathe. Are you into wood spirit carving?
ОтветитьHi Gary Beautiful piece of wood All the best

ОтветитьI love the colours and the patterns left by the spalting. It’s lovely.
ОтветитьBrilliant, well recycled, great piece as usual. Thanks very much 👏👏
ОтветитьVery beautiful ❤️😉😊✍️
ОтветитьSome of us would give an arm and a leg for a shed load of "junk" wood mate :) Cracking job on it Gary and what is more, a little sentimental value with it too . Lovely piece mate !
Cheers, Bram
Very beautiful bowl
ОтветитьAnother firewood masterpiece from the Master! Way to go, Gary! I love the grain in this piece and the great design you came up with. The finish is spectacular, too! Man, that home made tool of yours is a beast! It just seems so "all purpose." Really nice video, too. Great job, buddy, keep'em coming!
Phil
Looks good, Gary. Some really nice grain and character in that piece.
Billy
Neat piece
ОтветитьHi Gary, From Firewood to Flaming Beautiful Bowl. The Spalting is fantastic, nature's work at its best. The Big Boy is definitely that and a fantastic tool to have in your collection. Very kind of you to put a link in for Jabulani's channel StuffUCanMake. Hopefully he'll get a few more subscribers from it as he deserves more followers, his work is awesome. Cheers, Huw
ОтветитьGarry I agree with you this piece of wood is a real jewel the grain and spalting I it is stunning and magnificent. I am glad you turned it.
ОтветитьGorgeous bowl!
ОтветитьHello Papa, Wonderful piece and fascinating Job. mfg JOE
ОтветитьWow!! Extra special due to the family history.
ОтветитьYou have been such a staunch supporter and promoter of my channel. I would like to say thank you in a very special way. If you do not mind, please choose any piece that you especially like amongst the projects that I have made so far and I will courier it to you as a special gift. I can never thank you enough my dear friend.
ОтветитьSpalted oak is one of my favorites. I live in middle TN and oak is quite common here. My first turning was a spalted oak mallet that came from a tree in my mother's yard. It makes it extra special if you were able to see it grow as well. Nice job.
ОтветитьTurning 'junk' gives the biggest surprises and the biggest rewards. Most of my best pieces were from 'junk' wood. Lovely bowl.
ОтветитьNice little piece. Salvaged firewood turned into art.
ОтветитьA wonderful result, like a tree, has already disappeared, but the master added beauty and highlighted the foundation as a drawing and form. Thank you Gary. I really like your ideas
