Nice setup! But this it's definitely not a solution on a budget. And it's definitely not good from a security standpoint. 20 Hue Bulbs are around $1,500 alone. And if the system is communicating with the outside world, it isn't safe either. Google and Amazon are collecting a lot of personal data. Also, I would recommend not to use WiFi on cameras because they can easily be hacked into from right outside of your home.

I appreciate that you are concerned with Aesthetics. Aesthetics and Budget are not always on the same ship. Is a $149 shower valve a true budget value? Aqara Zigbee will work on some other system. Sorry, not my cup of Joe!

How do you set up that dashboard on the tv?

Hey Andrew, great video. I hadn't heard of Aqara so was really excited to visit the store to pick up a hub and some sensors. Unfortunately nothing is available in Australia. So that's pretty sad :( Every product had this message "Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Oh and Smart Apartment

I have the Sonos Roam which I use in the en-suite as it's the only room that doesn't have a permanently wired speaker. The sound from it is fantastic given it's relatively small size.

Hey Andrew, in your “Smart Apartment” 😉- How do you get the summary including weather dashboard etc on your TV / display?

Looks cool but I'd rather be chopping wood for the fireplace in a cabin way off the grid. The alphabet boys love this setup with all the tracking and listening devices. They don't have to do any work.

Can't make up my mind if the camera hub is super cool or something out of black mirror 😐

I've got the sonos and it absolutely jams hard. This video really getting me wanting to set up some automations in the house

Great video as always. My biggest take away is that i need more motion sensors. haha And i agree, Philips Hue are some of the best. I've never had issues with mine.
