When your lead off with name calling, you can guarantee you aren't listening to a professional person. Grow up Dave.

I seriously doubt that professor Dave believes that evolution through random mutation created all lifeforms on earth -- if he does, he has not thought about it very deeply (or is a complete moron). There is zero chance that evolution can create new species, let alone complex vertebrates like humans without some form of directed design. All academics who have studied this understand it and only high school students or college students in other fields continue to subscribe to the ridiculous theory of Darwinian evolution or its even more ridiculous offspring -- modern evolutionary synthesis. The death knell sounded on mutation-driven evolution when DNA was elucidated 70 years ago and it becomes even more laughable every year since then as more and more of the internal mechanisms of the cell are understood through scientific research. Amusingly, scientific discovery continues to expose the shortcomings of evolution more and more as we learn more and more. I would have thought a "professor" would understand this. It really feels like this guy needs to read up on the latest scientific research and stop relying on what he learned in freshman biology 20 years ago. But then again, some people really aren't interested in learning the truth.

You're missing the point that relative to the rigor of psychics and mathematics, evolutionary biology is not at all rigorous and is purely speculative. Set aside religion and the theory of intelligent design - the greatest challenge to evolution comes from itself. It is not compelling.

To think that medieval/ancient humans who didn't know what diseases or "stars" were should have any insight to our natural universe or genesis is laughable. When your book says "all the stars in the heavens shall land upon the 🌎" then it's clearly states that "god" doesn't know what a star is. Now if it said "in the time when the earth is destroyed due to our sun/star expansion" then maybe. And I'm sure even primitive humans knew what expansion is. Religion ie man's longest running con keeping people afraid, ignorant, and separate for thousands of years.

Their is a very simple argument to close this debate about the fossiles records. How Can creationnist explain that the first fossiles are clearly living in sea and how they died during the flood?

THANKS, PROF DAVE, for calling out "scientists" like Meyer, Ross, Tour, for using their science degree as their means to fool the ignorant into believing their perverted versions of SCIENCE AND THEOLOGY. These DECEIVERS ARE AS BAD THEOLOGIANS AS THEY ARE SCIENTISTS. I'm ALSO getting a great course in early earth history, biology, taxonomy, zoology, paleontology.

The fallacy of believers in a god who creates is based on their unproven assumption that ANYTHING in this universe is "created." Instead of simply admitting there is still much we don't know about the universe, including whether it was created , these believers fabricate a "god" to explain the unknown. Then these believers proclaim that to believe the story, one must have "faith." If one has no faith, one is doomed to a hell, a place also made up. Worse, these believers ATTEMPT TO PROVE USING SCIENCE that which you admit cannot be proven in a physical way. Best answer to our existence and the universe we inhabit - WE HUMANS DO NOT KNOW. Not "god created..."

I wish someone would point out that, even if all science was proven wrong and we went back to 0 admitting we know nothing, that doesn't directly lead to the conclusion: God did it. Maybe we don't know, but there are thousands of religions of dozens of types. What makes theirs special? Why one omniscient god and nothing else? This is an easy rebuttal. Surely someone pointed this out before? I ask because I'm really curious how Evangelicals and other radical theists respond to this.

science (which happens on the bassis of empiricism) makes no philosophical claim about what reality actually is. Materialism is a philosophical claim about what reality is (that it is matter). Materialism doesnt need to be true for science to work. Science is nothing more than a predictive tool for how nature will behave. What that nature is is unkown, and things like the hard problem of consciousness highlights this. Scientific materialism is therefore not meaningless buzzword. I dont like the religious aspect of Myers, but his work can be interpreted close to idealism.

"It is interesting to contemplate a tangled bank, clothed with many plants of many kinds, with birds singing on the bushes, with various insects flitting about, and with worms crawling through the damp earth, and to reflect that these elaborately constructed forms, so different from each other, and dependent upon each other in so complex a manner, have all been produced by laws acting around us. These laws, taken in the largest sense, being Growth with reproduction; Inheritance which is almost implied by reproduction; Variability from the indirect and direct action of the conditions of life, and from use and disuse; a Ratio of Increase so high as to lead to a Struggle for Life, and as a consequence to Natural Selection, entailing Divergence of Character and the Extinction of less improved forms. Thus, from the war of nature, from famine and death, the most exalted object which we are capable of conceiving, namely, the production of the higher animals, directly follows. There is grandeur in this view of life, with its several powers, having been originally breathed by the Creator into a few forms or into one; and that, whilst this planet has gone circling on according to the fixed law of gravity, from so simple a beginning endless forms most beautiful and most wonderful have been, and are being evolved." -Charles darwin

"God did it" -Creationist, more or less.

Well spoken steven myer..faith in the truth always prevails as opposed to this narrator whose eyes are blinded and puts his faith in the deceptive theory of evolution. Who believes a brain can evolve yet justifies his own attempt to falsify the fossil record. Ramble on for only a fool will say in his heart that there is no God. HalleluYah.

Does the fact that the polymerase had different sequences in different species point to convergent evolution, or is it that it has came from the same evolutionary ancestor but has been mutated along the way while keeping its function.

The reason creationists exist is because there is no reason for our universe to exist. Scientists just say the Big Bang happened so we are here. Why are we here? How are we here? In order to be a scientist you must be able to admit your wrong. Dave does not, to him the science we know is THE EXPLANATION to everything. When the Big Bang isn’t even an explanation and is being dismantled by James Webb as we speak because there are hundreds of extremely redshifted galaxies that cannot be explained by the Big Bang

An analogy to computer code, since he likes that, to show how stupid his ideas about information are: I can change a single character in a program with thousands of lines of code and render it useless, or conversely remove an errant character and resolve a critical error entirely. I can also add thousands of lines of code that do absolutely nothing to the function of a program.

All this is to say that the "amount" of information that changes has an extremely weak correlation to the effect on function. More changes are more likely to have a greater impact, but extreme examples that don't follow this trend are very common (hence the weak correlation).

His analogy is hot garbage.

"Evolution is wrong therefore creationism"-DI
"No it isn't, heres why..." - Dave
"Dave is a poo poo head whos going to hell!" - DI
"And creationism is wrong because-" - Dave
"Guys look he contradicted himself! He said creationism was wrong!" - DI
"No I didn't contradict myself!!" - Dave
" Remember, anything dave says is a lie by default" - DI
" The DI is an incredibly trustworthy institute which isn't filled to the brim with science illiterate morons, and doesn't want to replace science with religion!" - Dave

Well at least they're now admitting, on a Prager U video nonetheless, that the earth existed 520+ million years ago and wasn't created ~6000 years ago. That's a step in the right direction I guess. I think I'd be interested in watching Stephen Meyer debate Kent Hovlind.
