I went to mass this Saturday and they used the wrong powerpoint so the words to the song weren't there yet everyone knew the lyrics. That's how you know this song is in the top charts within the catholic church.

Thank you for posting and sharing this. This song in particular is so bitter sweet for me, because it has always been a favorite and a comfort to me, but it has also been sung and played at the funerals of so many people that I have loved and lost. Every time I hear it, I think of them, but it reminds me that sadness and suffering doesn't have to be a net negative, and that even in despair you can find hope. This is a beautiful rendition of Blest Are They.

wonderful song and I am PRAYERFUL for D. Haas....and all involved.....I am a retired Baptist pastor who during my service in upstate NY was lucky to have been befriended by a RCC leader..... the late Monsignor Peter Owens who was serving a parish in Johnson City NY....we served together in the local Council of Churches...this was the lead song for his funeral mass....I know I will see him again in HEAVEN....I so appreciate his influence over me...Truly he was a man of GOD

Today, our God-children, Bountiful (age 11) and his younger sister, Benedicta (age7) are making their First Communion. Upon awakening a few moments sgo, this song came to mind, for truly this is a day to REJOICE and BE GLAD! We are SO VERY HAPPYto be blessed with these beautiful & loving children. Today, May 4, 2024 is a day to REJOICE and BE GLAD, as you receive your First Communion.

On March I lost my disable son, we took care of him until God called him home. I know he safety at home but every day I missed him so much. We pray every night for comfort and strength. God is so good .

It's a tragedy the author of this song, and so many other beautiful songs, turned out to be a voracious sexual predator, and the publishers of the books in which his music appears are removing his work and forbidding him to represent Catholic doctrine. A bigger tragedy is what his victims have gone through.

Ever since I turned 6 we were taught Catechism by Irish Nuns and Irish girls studying to be Nuns. They were so pure of heart and they loved us Wild Indians' to be BLESSED as worshiping children of God. Now I'm 62 in these last days and looking hoping toward the rapture. Lest we not be counted worthy to escape the Tribulation. Oh Please take us with you Lord Jesus Christ, amen.

Some of the most spiritually uplifting moments in my life has been singing in choirs when in college and later in my parish. It seems often as we grow older we tend to become more isolated and no longer have the same opportunities to be in community and in concert with others. Take advantage and enjoy these times if you are fortunate enough to be part of a choir. A group of people whose voices can blend, give praise to God and to uplift those you sing for.

This is an incredible version of this hymn. The harmonious combination of the organ, strings, guitars, and other instruments really lift up the soul.

I absolutely loved this. It reminds me of the music I grew up with in the Church- “Glory & Praise” Hymnal. It is still the best!

It is a beautiful song, but unfortunately, it is now banned from use in Mass. All works from David Haas are banned due to credible accusations of sexual abuse.
