How many did you get right? And more importantly were you just guessing or you thought you saw a difference?

It all comes down to the compression algorithm and the screen density/size it is being shown on. A 720 shown on a large HD 4K screen is not going to look great.

I’m just learning photography so my iPhone is more then enough for me to learn on before I go wasting money for an actual camera. I don’t care if it’s in 1080 or 4k. I just wanna learn to shoot really nice photos.

the only ones i could tell apart were the 720 against everything else. i couldn't determine the difference between 1080 and 4k at all though.

it of course totally depends on the screen you are watching. If you're watching on a 720p you will never tell the difference between 32K or 4K

you benefit with 4k on very large screens, but on smartphone screens? it would look the same

Maybe it depends on the camera you use too? Some cameras just have a better sensors and image processors with the added effect of good glass lens. But I thought all of that was in 4k, but the 720p... Wow! That 720 looked 1080 at least

As long as it doesn’t distract from the storytelling, resolution is irrelevant. It’s like filmmakers splashing out on expensive glass and then having to put softening filters on.

I was able to differentiate between 4k and 1080/720, but not as easily between 1080 and 720. However, I have a Oled C2 and caviat, i know what to look for. Also, this clip is a bit misleading because there is a ton of blur and gradiation, its VERY different for other kinds of content. Landscapes, airial footage, wild life, especially things like insects, (example, ant's Canada) BUT I'm a professional and I think if i showed this to 99% of my friends... they would NOT see much if any difference.

guessed nearly all first with a 32 inch 4k monitor i'm not lying either as soon as 4k come up it was most notable but 1080p vs 720p for me was abit closer.

Except for the profile angles hover in 720p that I couldn't tell apart, got them all correctly. But anyone using professional video material knows the importance of cropping in

I could tell which was 720 and which was 4K only in the extreme close-up of his face, where you could tell the individual pores were clearer vs slightly blurrier. But otherwise I had no idea, certainly 1080p vs 4K and even really 720p in most instances it was difficult to tell a difference in shots where the extra level of detail doesn't matter. It's only when you film something really up close that the visibility of extra detail becomes noticeable, and even then barely.

I cant believe this is such an old video. It is completely relevant today. I just got a 4k TV and I did not notice a difference from my 1080. I do think there are many more factors that go into picture quality. I have a friend with one of the first 4k OLED screens. She paid $7000 for it and it looks like there are actually people inside it when you watch 4k shows. It's insanely real. Mine does NOT look like that AT ALL. Definitely more things going on than just the screen resolution.

For gaming on a PS5 should I get a full HD 32 inch monitor with 144hz or a 4k 32 inch monitor with 60hz. Currently I am using a 32 inch 1080hd tv with low refresh rate.

Maybe if all shots were wide angle with everything in focus this would've been very easy to see the difference between resolutions. Since it was a bunch of random closeups with backgrounds out of focus it's almost impossible to tell. This test/sample/recording isn't very practical or applicable. Let's see if you can tell the difference between audio samples of 128kbps 320kbps and uncompressed 1500kbps, but we're going to move the speakers or your seating position between each sample, wtf... lmao! Plus your editing software probably did a fair share of upscaling those lower resolutions, I'm not sure because I didn't finish watching your video passed 4 minutes

The brain process the information from the eyes and can "fill in the blanks" so just watching a video I don't expect you to notice a lot of difference between 1080 and 4k. With really low resolution you can still recognise faces for example. A lot of research has been done on low res object recognition for anything from robotic lawn mowers to self driving cars.

I stumbled onto this interesting comparison video and am surprised the little differences between the 720P vs 1080P vs 4K. So the verdict would be... SHOOT 8K and forget about the environment!!!? 🤣🤣🤣

Of course you Can't see the difference. Most everybody is watching everything at, 720 or 1080. Most folks don't have 4K monitors yet. Many cannot even stream that fast from the Internet yet. And you really can't see that extended resolution. But it lets you do other things.

If shot in 4K. You can then zoom and crop the frame. Without losing any visual, resolution. You could notice. If you were zooming into, 720 or 1080. The picture could start to go soft. In resolution and focus.

And since zooming and cropping is a big factor in productions. It's best then to shoot at the higher resolutions. To have that versatility in postproduction. Without the loss of visual resolution. From zoomed artifacting.

And that's why it's more advantageous to shoot at the higher resolutions. If you've got the extra disk space for it. As the files can get huge. And a good reason for NTFS, Windows, formatting. Where file sizes are virtually, unlimited. And files don't get broken up. Into multiple packages. And so an hour-long interview would be a single file. Instead of multiple 2-4 GB limited files. Which I hated. I like intact files that are contiguous.

There is a similar analogy to this production technique in audio. From our bygone era. As most recordings were made at, 1 of 2 popular speeds. One of better quality requiring a greater financial investment. One of standard quality. That was more affordable. While we didn't always record at the higher-quality. The compromise speed was just fine. But there were those of us that preferred the faster speed, sound. Some really didn't care. And yet classic hits were still created. That we all have a Whole Lotta Love, for. When we get back, Jack. And do it again. On a Yellow Submarine. And we aren't going to, Monkeys, around. With the Guess Who? Charles Manson. Who took inspiration from the Beatles, Helter-Skelter. And now look where he is. He's with Phil Spector. With the Wall of Death Sound. And they are exactly where they need, to be.

I always laugh over Phil Spector. What a reaming schmuck he was. He got his! Yabaddabadoo!

A really good quality 1080p camera is going to look better then a crappy 4k one. As camera qualify, focal length, sensor in the camera matter more then a high resolution.

I guess the problem is, that even when u have a 720p video it will look way better on a 4k screen than on a 720p screen bc your monitor tries to scale the video up. Otherwise it would show a smaller picture. If you would change your monitor resolution to match the video clips I would say it's way easier to tell the difference.
