The next state I'll be covering in The US Explained is Rhode Island! To all my subscribers from Rhode Island, please reply to fill me in on what I need to know about your home state, such as unique food, traditions, places, some fun facts and local dialects and pronunciations! I can't promise everything will make it into the video, but I will try my best, and I'm looking forward to getting started!
ОтветитьCorrection, there’s 8 states ahead of North Carolina with 10 million people . Georgia is #8 slightly edging out NC the last couple decades
ОтветитьA historian and native of the state has the perfect way of remembering how to pronounce Appalachia. Imagine someone throwing an apple at cha.
Ответитьyou mixed up Winston salem and greensboro. Greensboro is bigger
ОтветитьMost beautiful state east of the Mississippi by a mile.
Happy to call it my home.
Yes
ОтветитьThanks video watched
ОтветитьYou should look into why Charlotte is a major banking center. A 17 lb nugget was found by a kid in Cabarrus county just north of Mechanicsburg Co. This eventually led to a gold rush 30 years before the 76' rush our west. That is a reason for the mascot of UNC Charlotte, the school where your guest attended are the 49'ers. Charlotte became a hub for minting and soon after banking
ОтветитьGrew up here and went to unc. Love this state.
ОтветитьSwinger paridise...Good luck trying to raise a normal family in this gross place...
ОтветитьWe also have the largest black bear and eastern wild turkeys in the world
ОтветитьThe Union army said the nc soldiers had tar on their heels, referring to their bravery and willingness to stay in the fight. But go ahead and erase that history with something more politically correct.
ОтветитьYou failed to mention North Carolina State University when discussing the Research Triangle area, which has more graduates in RTP than either UNC or Duke. And it’s the largest university in the state.
ОтветитьNASCAR originated in NC
ОтветитьFound it ironic while you talking about slavery and racism you left out the fact that the south was massively Democratic during those days and put in place the Jim Crow laws as well as making gun control laws that were designed to deny people of color from the 2nd Amendment, not to mention creating the KKK. NC has had a bad past but the people of this beautiful state have changed all that and turned it into the awesome state we all share today.
ОтветитьJoara in Burke Co in NC is older than English colonies and largest. Also, mention Tsali, the Cherokee warrior who gave his and his family’s life to refuse The Trail of Tears. We have The Eastern Cherokee because of him—he’d hid back about 1000 Cherokee. Also, we bought the Qualla from the USA and can do what we want with it. For instance, we will legalize marijuana sales on the Qualla in October.
ОтветитьCharlotte used to be a nice moderately sized city. The city and county governments have 0 accountability and have absolutely ruined the city by building on every square inch of available land with massive apartments and subdivisions making the city unaffordable and unrecognizable to locals. They have replaced us with a bunch of New Yorkers and Californians completely ruining the culture as well.
ОтветитьThe tarheel state 👣
Ответить😳
ОтветитьI really like New Bern. Smallish city with some interesting historic sites, close to the beach
ОтветитьMt Mitchell is not in the Smokies it is in the Black Mountains.
ОтветитьI lived in NC for about half my 23 year Army career (Ft. Bragg). I love North Carolina!
ОтветитьIn 2014 I moved from Buena Park, CA to Durham, NC after I graduate 🎓 from elementary school in 6th grade and finishing putting braces on my teeth. Today is the day I arrived at North Carolina from California to live there. I arrived at North Carolina Saturday August 2, 2014 - Saturday March 21, 2015. And I return to California from North Carolina because I don't there,.I don't like the schools and I don't the time zone. And today is the day I live at North Carolina and it's going to be 9 years when I live in that state.
Ответить😢anything about wine? Manteo, who you mentioned, has a place name with a 350-400 vine continuously cultivated (NCSU and VT did testing). Moonshine, Tobacco Road and tobacco was a cash crop that aided the colonists is purchasing the guns that help battle the Brits. I’m a passionate North Carolinian and well…maybe there were time restrictions.
You did cover a lot.
Thank you!
I used to live near where the Mecklenburg Deceleration of Independence was signed. Very unassuming trail with a plaque leading from the road near the border of Huntersville, NC. I drove past it everyday to work.
ОтветитьI lived there for about a year last year and it was pretty nice.
ОтветитьAliens came and ate slave masters....u don't see all grave from those gone before 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆🪐🪐🪐🪙🌓👀
ОтветитьStick to the facts no one cares about your opinion on the stars and bars
ОтветитьLol they changed their flag and happened to use the same colors (the three most popular colors for flags) and you still gotta problem with it. Man you’re hard to please.
ОтветитьAwes
ОтветитьI always thought Fort Hood was the biggest base by people but I looked it up and you’re right, Fort Bragg is bigger.
Ответитьi see you didn’t do nebraska lol
ОтветитьHello North Carolina people from nj 🙌 shout here let me know if you I. I want to know you more
ОтветитьYou say "lynching's were common". How many?
ОтветитьThats a lie, Georgia has a higher population than North Carolina
ОтветитьJust moved here recently and i am in awe of the biodiversity, range of peopl, towns etc
ОтветитьThat was great! Truly really cool to learn more to appreciate more about my home state. I really was with you especially since you got our barbecue over here on the Eastern side of the state correct! However, I lost you and did a big facepalm when you mentioned jazz music and slapped a picture of 5 of the whitest folk you could find 🤣🤣🤣 now come on brother man we know good and well Jazz and Blues and all those tunes had deep beautiful, black and soulful roots!!! But I digress lol. You really do your research well. Enjoyed the video👍
ОтветитьI attended a convention in Asheville, in 1993, at the Grove Park Inn. Beautiful city with friendly citizens. It's one of my "Top 10" places in the USA I'd like to live.
ОтветитьMy home state North Carolina, born and raised southeastern in Wilmington. Best seafood ever..
ОтветитьRTP: Romeo Guest
ОтветитьSomething that wasn't mentioned is that when the US had more of a focus on textile production, North Carolina was a huge hotspot for the industry. In my county (pretty close to Charlotte), I can't drive more than two or three minutes without seeing remnants of a mill town. Hell, I currently live in an old mill house that was built in 1920 and my front porch view is a big, gray, concrete wall that's part of a somewhat newer addition to that mill. I would say that a majority of the houses in my area are either original mill houses or are emulating the design of them because they're built close to or in the mill town and the builders wanted to keep the aesthetic, I guess. If they don't fit in either of those groups, they're more likely to be plantation homes or have been built within the last 20-25 years than anything else.
ОтветитьBarely any mention of Greenville, how disappointing
ОтветитьAlso it is Appalachian
ОтветитьThis is interesting 👏 recognizing the most important state
ОтветитьOMFG don't let my home state become a shit show like the New England "megalopolis" you speak of, with their bowing down to their masters "government" stupid ass mentality. ..."For Impofing Taxes on us without our comfent" They had it right then, and we should heed what they fought and died for, but the reasonability and logic is being lost throughout the country.
