Unreal Engine 5.2 ML Deformer can be utilized to achieve lifelike deformation on your own real-time characters. It shows an approximation to a full muscle sim that takes 1 minute per frame normally. Also does cloth approximation. The footage included in this video is running live on PS5.

Gave this a like, but it's disturbing. Sure today's games may be nicer, but digitizing mankind's expressions and knowledge is just making AI's takeover come faster. Someday AI might simulate your friend, family, doctor, etc. to influence your decisions. Humanity has already uploaded how we live, who we know, and all the bad things humans do. Why wouldn't a future AI with no morals do bad things like some humans?

When AI & 3D models reach the point when they're indiscernible in appearance and behaviour to "real" humans, we'll begin to unravel the secrets of the simulation that is reality. Kind of like when you're on Ketamine and DMT and your brain reaches the threshold of comprehension that can never quite be breached. The enigma of consciousness. The puzzle that is reality will be solved; and I don't think we're going to like what we find.

Ready Player One will be realistic within the next 5-10 years mark my words. Meta is the idea, but unreal is the execution!

I don't know if people remember but, Playstation had a commercial in the late 90s/early 2000s that showed PS9 being eye contacts that gave you an immersive experience. I don't think we're too far away from that.
