i guess tombraider comics from the 2000s will eventually be pretty collectable if Tombraider can't be sexy anymore anteaques dealers in the future showing eachoter pokemon cards and comicbooks instead of tables and chairs.
ОтветитьAll of tombraider from 1st to last are great in their own ways , some people may don't like last trilogy or AOD or legend or... but it doesn't mean that these games are bad tor poorly developed (except AOD since it was too complicated like be ahead of it's time and not enough time to develop it properly)
I played all of them from 1996 until now .
And I send my huge thanks to all people who created, developed and produced these games even the ones that I may didn't like much as the others❤
Jeeeeezus, dude!!! The developers got so shafted!
ОтветитьIf the creators hated it, it's probably because of bewbies, or some cuck nonsense.
ОтветитьOnce again, Capitalism ruins everything
ОтветитьYour videos are great. I think we sometimes forget games were made by people and not companies. I think most of the time when games fall off it turns out the original creators are no longer associated, but because the same company label is on the box people just associate it with the same team always being involved. Developers should get more props as individual creators then they do in general.
ОтветитьSprite control was terrible in this game from the beginning. They never addressed it.
ОтветитьIt would be hilarious if it turned out that Lara's torpedoes had been meant as a designer prank that somehow got approved.
ОтветитьScummy suits ruin everything as always.
ОтветитьLaura?
Ответитьit's a real travesty Laura's been used and abused from day one. even to this day they won't let her die which is insane considering she hasn't had a good game for 26 years
ОтветитьEidos greed was insatiable. I hope the OG devs are doing better.
ОтветитьProbably the most tragic and infuriating game developer histories I have ever heard, and I heard a few.
ОтветитьWhy was the guy that made Lara so damn gay not god
Ответить"We were living in that time." That time has never gone away. People love to see and play attractive people. People in marketing get that, and it is responsible for the character and the games becoming as popular as they are today.
ОтветитьThis was fascinating and so well done. Thank you for the history, and for the walk down memory lane! Long live O.G. Tomb Raider!
ОтветитьHow much do you get paid to be punched in the face? If you’re working a job that you don’t like, this means you.
ОтветитьThese guys are responable for my child hood such a master piece
ОтветитьGood content bro keep it up
ОтветитьIt frustrates me to think about what the later gamer could've been if Eidos hadn't put so much pressure on the shoulders of the developers and had just let them work in peace for even some months more. Especially AoD could've been one of the best TR's in the franchise, had it been worked on longer and bugs and horrible controls fixed before release.
ОтветитьI call BS. This is full of lies.
ОтветитьPeople don’t give the female devs enough credit- there’s some missing information here though- a virtual copy of Indiana jones was their first template for the protagonist.
Also the writer vicky Arnold basically co created Lara via her bio.
Eidos never learnt.
So many people think they can just milk something to earn a quick buck instead of making quality products for long term success.
Legend was the starting of the end again.
Anniversary and underworld were both rushed.
Man, Core really was done dirty. They deserved to go to Egypt to celebrate, and they deserved far better treatment than what they got.
ОтветитьNo game came close to giving the feeling of reward that Classic TR games give. Such magical formula. Shame it lost the hype.
The only game felt similar was Legend of Zelda games but they have much different aspects to it.
Fuck Eidos, always.
ОтветитьI wonder if Toby Gard or the design crew remember a waay basck retro game by the name of Tutankham,' by Konami? That, and Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom by Atari and Rolling Thunder by Namco. The best thing about Tomb Raider is that it does have 'some' educational value. This from spmeone who has never made use of a pitiful nude raider patch. Ugh....
Ответитьtomb raider level editor came with tomb raider 4 🥰
ОтветитьLet me see if I get things straight: Eidos funded the first 6 games but:
-Imposed impossible deadlines
-Lost every developer that had experience with the series and lured younger devs with royalties without disclosing how grueling things could be
-Defaced the character in multiple media campaigns without any second thought or regret
-Took a BRITISH icon and gave it to an American studio
-Let said American studio steal the original team's idea behind their back, funded an inferior demo and screwed everyone else.
EIDOS really squeeze every drop of blood and then cast Core away eh? Core might have buried Lara under a Pyramid, but Eidos whipped that carcass for pennies until nothing was left
Thats a really informative and well made documentary
it makes sense now....been gaming since 1st gen, started on a Commodore vic20 at age 9. then a c64 in 1988. got an Amiga in at 13 around 1990, loved Price of Persia... ps1 1996
had tomb raider long before the main stream advertising. so i couldnt understand why they hated their own game. I loved the game, a real step in evolution from 2d to 3d.
i never paid attention to the advertising, i didnt need too. i knew i would get every release because i loved the 3d puzzle platform style, that ended with AOD... lara couldve been a male and we wouldve still loved the game.... its them wanting to appeal to a wider audience that led them to advertise her in that way... they the wider audience werent gamers. so they had to use more than gameplay to sell the game... it sux that the devs got treated so bad and gamers get blamed for how they advertised her. all so a few suits could get rich.
Ps1 made gaming popular. and along with it came the greed.
The time where things were simple and soul infused, a sexy smart girl exploring tombs, and now they're destroying it all with DEI and wanting to put social issues into her motives, no, it's just a simple game of tomb exploring to have fun.
ОтветитьTomb Raider 1 and 2 are both still two of my favourite games ever, but it's very upsetting knowing how much Eiddos Interactive butchered the series with their overzealous marketing, exploitation of Lara's sex appeal, and toxic influence on Core Design's workplace culture. Suffice to say, I'm sure we were all glad to see the end of them in 2009
ОтветитьCore Design didn’t kill TR franchise
Eidos’ greed and Crystal Dynamics and their lack of interest in the original TR style, lore etc killed TR
Eidos screwed up Core Design, then handed TR to a company that just doesn’t care about Lara and the franchise itself, also disrespecting Core Design’s original TR
Also Crystal rebooting the franchise frickin’ twice, with another incarnation of Lara coming soon or something
It's about time Developers started to unionize and stop accepting such terrible work conditions/employers.
Ответитьand that is why I am so happy with the Aspyr Remastered, I knew of all the sacrifice and work of Core when making the classics, and the Tomb Raider saga poorly done in recent years, finally the classic games receive the treatment and recognition that they deserve, Nathan create the most iconic music that fits perfect whit the character
ОтветитьIts pronounced "Lara (Law-Raw) not "Laura" (Low-Raw).
ОтветитьCrystal Dynamics hired freaking Toby Gard (original creator of Tomb Raider from Core) to work on Legend, Anniversary and Underwold, so the argument of mistreating original developers is greatly exaggerated. Criticism of the original series may very well come from him personally. Sure Core was more than Toby Gard, but he was the "father" of Lara Croft and he should be the most insulted, instead he worked for them.
ОтветитьRhona Mitra is the real LC!
Ответить"Lara Croft, who shattered stereotypes" I do believe that award goes to Samus Aran from Metroid 10 years prior.
ОтветитьCore Design losing Tomb Raider was the saddest thing ever. And I’m one of those people who think Angel of Darkness was fantastic
ОтветитьThe use of the expression "work ethics" to describe exploitation and abuse will never fail to anger me.
Work ethics is something you have yourself, not that something your boss shoves down your throat with no care for your wellbeing under the threat of unemployment.
Thank you for this video!
ОтветитьLara is max escapism in her careless waste of her peak years to have fun for herself
ОтветитьSounds like Core Design had more Respect for Crystal Dynamics than Crystal had for Core
ОтветитьAnother tragedy for me is the fact that Crystal Dynamics second reboot of tomb raider is really just in name only.
ОтветитьThat og intro instrumental hits different
Ответить
