Thanks for sharing! I definitely liked your points and enjoyed the advice. However, I disagree with the example given for the effort, staying constantly over assigned duty hours. Some are just doing it because they are not able to have the work done on time. Good leaders would rather look at the effort in terms of efficiency and teach their teams how to keep a healthy work - life balance.

Unfortunately when you work two jobs you have to make it known to the right people that those 20 or 30 minutes I have in between jobs are vital for myself

Any advice or motivation that comes from a business owners or business guru in terms of how to move up the latter is irrelevant to a young person that desires financial success and has ambitions in life. Every thing that Pat said only make sense in order for good producers to be manageable for the benefits of the business owners. #1 Good attitude means the boss to be able to control you, #2 effort work hard only to profit your boss, real intelligence work smart, work little and double your income, #3 progress, really Pat ? Progress only happens when you create a momentum to yourself and not the company you work for. Most people that are in sales usually stay there for the rest of their lives only building their bosses castles due to the fact that these sales people had been brain washed with the idea that you must work 20 hours per day, you must be nice to your boss etc, all crap. Sales people work for money while their bosses are building the castle, cause sales people had been brain washed to work for money. In other words sales people usually are the golden goose.🤑🤑🤑I should get paid for these advice.

All correct but environment matters in the same way. There are work places where literally nothing gets you ahead because there are no opportunities. A farmer who wants to reap a good harvest has to find the right fertile ground!

Not always true, you can put the effort, be positive and you will get progress but then you will stay at the same position for quite a long time with no progression sometimes as your manager will keep you behind his back as he is scared of you, all your co workers are telling you how much you know and how well you perform etc but your manager is killing your career. Pat, great chat but you had some luck too! You are only speaking about the experience you had, this is not true in so many cases.... The best advice I can give now is, leave and move on, you might be perfect suit for many, but not at the area you are now! no matter how hard you try!!

I just saw this video. I disagree with a things said in it. This type of thinking is fairytale, not reality. And maybe is because this only manager perception, but definitely not reality. In my business environment, people who are very punctual, responsible and do job on time are the ones who work from 9-17h and have a positive attitude. They are also the black sheep and never or very rarely get promoted. Wanna know who get the raise? People who gossip, non stop complaining, they work from 09h till next morning and NEVER get things done. They are always available. They also are very lazy. And in the end they are well rewarded. Wanna know why? Because many managers today love lickspittles more then a hard worker. Managers love flattering people not positive people. Of course, there are exceptions to the rules, but this is hard truth. I have to many experience to buy this type of agenda. How can a person who works from 09h till 24h be effective the next morning on job? They are the incapable to do anything. No hard feelings, but this video is miss.

Someone that has got the power to take decisions or influence decison making at the top! It then won't matter how people generally perceive you. If you are in good books of Godfather. Hell yeah!! This seems overly black and white. Most is obvious. In regards to having many jobs, people get laid off due to union negotiated contracts with sonority and has nothing to do with them being a bad employee. Some people are simply not liked and it's more about manipulation and knowing how to read people than attitude because attitude is subjective depending on who you are dealing with. Working hard it a good key however you need to be carful as you can be pigeonholed into doing one particular thing and never moving up because you are good at it. Also, you can't work late in every company and it violates a majority of company policies that can get you fired and not promoted. Also working off the clock is illegal and it's a risk to the company.

The progress part is hard when you have a stubborn boss I give feed back and if its not implemented its annoying and then later then it gets implemented theres no credit .to where at this point i dont wanna give my feed back but yet I'm screaming inside at you like bitch listen I hear first hand what your clients want.bottom line im helping you build your dream .

I can do all three. Actually, I started my job with being enthusiasm, working hours for free. Came up with idea to improve work. As result, my coworkers attacked me “ only, do it we asked to do it.” They said this because I was the newest. The boss offended me, my culture, and background. As result of his action, I don’t care about work anymore and just do what I ask to do. The video is good but it is BOTH side employer and employee. If you want to have a personal that has all this quality, you must treating them with respect and being their mentor nit just a boss!!

I have been working with a very good company here in Chicago for many years without a single promotion for a good 10 years of working with this company. This is so true. I have working with a company for last 5 years. Initially it was tough, had couple of failures. But rather than quitting, I chose to stay with the same company and work on myself. In last 3 years, management has 3x my salary, gave 2 promotions and awaiting the 3rd one coming March.
