Nikon P1000/P950 Best Video Settings ! --- (2021)

Just purchased a NikonP1000 for high altitude plane spotting. What is the best setup for this as new to photography.?

Hi, your videos are really helpful, I got a P1000 for a few good months now, I also managed to take some ok wildlife pictures with it (still learning, photography is not easy at all). My main problem with the p1000 is that I haven't found a way to save my settings on the card or on the camera, and every time I remove the card to copy the pictures and videos I always have to put in the settings from 0. Is there a way to save the settings? I always select save user settings, but never helped.

I do not like the way the manual focus is actuated on the P950 on seeing in on the web. In real life what is it like? I can only think you must have to keep lifting your fingertip off and on over and over? Interrupting a smooth focus sweep and maybe even upsetting the balance of the camera?

I purchased a Nikon Coolpix P1000 a couple of weeks ago.

Interestingly, I remember purchasing ISO 400 and ISO 800 film for my cameras 📷 but not fully understanding the differences.

All three models are designed on the same sensor and sensor, which is a big weakness, I had a p 900, but it sharpened the image very poorly, at high zoom, almost everything was out of focus, so all three cameras are not worth a cent. All that Nikon has changed is zoom, everything else is almost the same. Very bad product for photography, useless indoors, useless at night, good only in good weather and for video recording.

greetings, please can you make a video with the p1000 while recording a bird in flight, the size of a hawk or a pigeon, but with a zoom from 500mm to 1200mm, I'm interested in whether it can be tracked and what the focus and stabilization is like. these days I have the opportunity to buy a p1000, but I'm interested in that🙋‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Thanks, I am still experimenting with my P1000, this is helpful. I got confused when I was first using it. The auto settings didn't seem to work so well in my situation and then I got into the A/M AE-L/AF-L without understanding out in my first field testing and tring to switch while recording. Bumpy learning curve that way, but memorable. In some ways it is not as good as my canon eos 1080p and tele setup, but in other ways its really good so I am still finding my feet on it. I now have the comparison videos took at about the same time on my channel it any one is interested.

What I simply cannot stand is auto focus "hunting," or "breathing," effect ! I am a big believer in learning to effectively manually focus your image 👍. I also don't enjoy watching exposure shift during a live video shot. Manually setting your exposure, then locking it at a specific F stop will greatly improve your final result with any camera which will allow you to override automatic exposure settings. I also think shooting live video hand held with a super telephoto lens camera is out of the question altogether ! It is one thing to do hand held still image shots, but video really needs to be done on a good and sturdy tripod and head.

I cannot get sharp photos from the P950. The video is crystal clear. I use it on a heavy tripod with VR shut off but have yet to get a sharp still photo. Shooting at 4k setting.

At 2160 the P950 does not allow Electronic VR to operate. It allows it at 1080/25 and 1080/50.

Can you tell me if here is a video mode for slow motion? Every year during storm season I use my Phone for example to capture lightning. And would like to do that with this camera. I'm assuming a faster frame rate would work right?

Hey Stafford, I've noticed a few things I was wondering if you knew any work arounds for. 1. When the camera is in 4k when taking video, VR is automatically disabled. Any way around this? 2. When the camera is in manual focus, the focus peaking lines stop working when recording. Any way around this one either?

I ask #1 because I have a super shaky tripod so I've had a considerable increase in AF/F performance with VR on, and I ask #2 because I used to do sports videography and fell in love with focus peaking lines when filming... they are so useful! As you can see, I've worked myself into a bad spot. I am basically stuck with 1080p and AF/F.

I just bought a Nikon p1000 a Week ago and tested it but the Viewfinder and LCD Screen is a bit blurry and most often happens at night, before I take the picture it looks blurry but after I do it it looks clear!
Does this also happen with your Nikon?
