Everything went smooth except I had to fish wire through the back of a junction box straight down into insulation it was a nightmare. But in the end everything works good!
ОтветитьIs there any way to extend a plug from a three-way light switch?
ОтветитьHard to image a more thorough and accessible tutorial - congratulations!
ОтветитьIf you knew anything about electrical you would not post SHIT!!!
ОтветитьHave you ever tried plumbing???
ОтветитьThanks I did it u teach very very perfect thanks a million
ОтветитьAgain, you forgot is the circuit at the switch overloaded or not???
ОтветитьMy white wire in the box is still hot I have to turn 2 breakers off to kill the power to it. Is it still safe to pull an outlet off it in my situation?
Ответитьvery helpful . thanks
ОтветитьHow different would it be to add the outlet after the light fixture? Is it as simple as just branching off the light fixture (with pigtails) to the outlet? Or would that not work? Thx
ОтветитьAre you using 12 /2 or 14/2 awg for residential installations?
ОтветитьInformative and clearly described, thank you.
ОтветитьHi, everyone —connected it just like that in an old house, but the outlet won't have power unless the switch is flipped. Thinking its missing a wire?
(inverted the conenetions, but has the same effect)
Also any appliance will work as a light switch
What about when its a fan and separate light going to one switch continuing power to a separate room but want to make the light and fan switch into 2 separate switches?
ОтветитьThanks for the video, is it possible to add that plug to the outlet so when the switch goes off so does the outlet?
ОтветитьI know this video is 2 years old but dang it man, you saved my butt. I learned exactly what I needed to know thanks to you. Excellent video tutorial.
ОтветитьThank you! Very easy to follow without any nonsense filler. Really appreciate this video.
ОтветитьNicely done, would it be a issue to change that switch to a dimmer switch ?
ОтветитьWhat if you run conduit into the plastic box, would that apply to this is the wire was protected in the wall?
ОтветитьYeah, but what if there’s a fire block bro? What we’re supposed to do!?
ОтветитьWhat are the considerations when running power from a switch to an outlet and looking at the current wire gauge? Would you wana make sure to use 12g or 14g and match it to whatever the existing wire is?
ОтветитьGreat video.
ОтветитьAwesome video!
ОтветитьThis was sooo much help. thanks for the info!!
ОтветитьThat is exactly what I needed to understand! Thank you very much.
ОтветитьYada Yada Yada! 1/4 of your video just to explain why we should turn off the breaker. Just get on with it
ОтветитьNothing wrong with push in’s. If it pops out, you’re not organizing your wires correctly 😂😂😂what’s pulling on it??? It wouldn’t be there if you couldn’t use it 😂😂😂😂. It’s ok, everybody fixes up their first home.
ОтветитьFantastic video! One dumb question, is the outlet always hot even when the switch is off? Or does the light switch have to be on in order for the outlet to work? Thanks!
ОтветитьI want to add a light to a switch that turns off an outlet and I want the outlet to be always on. I guess this would be the same wiring
ОтветитьWhat if it's a dual switch
ОтветитьThank you very much but it was very informative and very professional. I was able to understand it all. Thank you very much again very helpful
ОтветитьCHAIN! OF COURSE!!!!!!
Ответитьawesome
Ответитьthank you
ОтветитьBut doing it this way won't you only be able to use the outlet if the switch is on?
ОтветитьI'm looking to do this for a bidet in my bathroom since there is no nearby traditional GFCI power outlet, but don't know how much power I can get from the light switch. What's your recommendation?
ОтветитьReally nice video, thank you
ОтветитьHelp! I followed this video to a "T". The outlet works but only when the switch is off and the light is on. When I flip the switch to turn the light on the outlet loses power. I tried to troubleshoot this but couldn't figure it out. Thanks in advance
ОтветитьWell I recently did this to install a new bidet I bought for my wife and everything went well, everything's grounded properly according to my tester. The only issue I'm having is when we run the water pump or oscillator for the bidet you can see all the lights in the bathroom pulsating along with the motor in the bidet, I find it hard to believe that the bidet is drawing that much power, any solutions or recommendation? Also I did not have to do any pigtailing, I just connected directly into the line because it was a double switch, one to the bathroom light, one to the bathroom fan
ОтветитьDid all this. Light stays on, no matter how switch is on/off. Outlet reads open ground, but they are connected. Wondering if I have a broken wire in the romex.
ОтветитьIm confuse about the wiring you start by Hading new wire but we cant see the old one. After we see the old wire at the end only
Where they are coming from ?
The only video that i can understand! Thanks.
ОтветитьThere was nothing mentioned about making sure you don't exceed the maximum wire load of the existing box. There is a maximum amount of wire that can be present in an outlet/switch box. This is determined by wire gauge(s), box size, and devices installed.
ОтветитьAnything change when you need GFCI outlet?
ОтветитьAn electrician willl give you everything but plain and simple directions
ОтветитьI have a question about plastic boxes. The devices I have tried the box I have impossible to screw into. Any suggestions
ОтветитьIn this scenario, does the light switch control power to the outlet? I'm trying to do this but want to make sure the outlet will always have power regardless of the switch position. Thanks!
ОтветитьGreat tutorial. Unfortunately this only works if your house is wired per current code. Older homes almost never have neutrals in switch boxes. It was code and common practice to just make a switch loop using a single 14-2 drop.
ОтветитьNever wear jewlery/rings while working on electrical and mechanical equipment
