Is it worth owt?
ОтветитьYeap
ОтветитьI can't believe this watch is legit .a birmingham watch dealer told me he sold the watch without paper work approx 5 years before it appears on antiques roadshow
ОтветитьI'd have given him 11k for it.
Ответитьhe knew all along
ОтветитьBest I can do is $5, I'm taking all the risk here, you know I gotta get it framed....
ОтветитьIt's rather sad that a person should consider that Laurence of Arabia was a fictitious character.
ОтветитьLived in the Saudi town of Yanbu for a year and I once saw this decrepit old house. I asked my Arab friend why it was still standing and he said 'a famous man called Lawrence lived there'. Went up to the house where they had a little plaque and sure enough...
ОтветитьHe definitely knew who the name was so funny😅
Ответить"Character of fiction"? lmao As a Welshman, he should be ashamed. Lawrence was born in Tremadoc....WALES!!!
ОтветитьI can't believe he thought Lawrence was fictional! I myself was lucky enough recently to have found a similar watch, on an online auction site, which once belonged to the WWI fighter ace, Biggles. Yes, I know, I couldn't believe my luck either!
ОтветитьThat this middle aged man thought Lawrence was a fictional character simply boggles the mind.
ОтветитьAnybody know the function of the sub-dial numbered up to 15? Thanks...
ОтветитьThere's lovely
ОтветитьBeing from Saudi Arabia and having an interest in wrist watches I was amazed to see this , so interesting!
ОтветитьId buy that at 10k. Has nostalgic historic articles really gone that mad in the last few years. Whats it worth now?. 70s 80s no one wouldve cared less and pribably would think he was fictional.
ОтветитьI love that the Antiques Roadshow have watches in almost every episode now. It's become quite a hit with watch collectors and online forums!
ОтветитьSold to Omega in an auction for 86,000 CHF. Omega went on to recreate 18 of the watches for the public of which they all sold for 136,000 CHF a piece. Not a bad old investment that.
ОтветитьWhen did the Emperor Palpatine become a watch specialist?
ОтветитьMaybe 5.... maybe 10.... quid!!
Ответить£10 grand back then was like £70 grand in todays cash but i bet that watch ⌚ is worth like a million bucks today 😂
Ответитьact
ОтветитьThis guy now looks like a stooge ..
ОтветитьIn 2000, that valuation was probably about right.
Now, it would fetch £60-80000.
WOW... just WOW!
ОтветитьMy man thought Lawrence of Arabia was a made-up character, like Sinbad or Aladdin 😂
ОтветитьAs if he didn't know.
ОтветитьI love it how they say with all seriousness, "A Tener was a lot of money 20 years ago." Is this a running joke in England?
ОтветитьWould be quite something as T E Lawrence to be sitting on some dune looking at this watch, and to know that one day it would be in the possession of some bloody Welshman who thought he was just some made up bloke in a film.
ОтветитьI think treble that amount even when that was filmed…
Ответитьprobably $1m today.. or close to it.
Ответитьi thought he was a fictional character as well lol
ОтветитьThe owner looks like Bob Knight
ОтветитьThis must surely be worth 6 figures these days...
ОтветитьI locked it up in 2021 it sold for over £9000 although some quoted it would get silly money like £200,000 not bad for a tenner on Newport market
ОтветитьIt’s the connection an item has to real people, some famous like in this case and some not…but still, that connection to people long gone is quite incredible
ОтветитьI don't wear watches but that is a beautiful looking watch.
ОтветитьMaybe this guy thought ww1 was a movie by Hollywood as well
ОтветитьFROM ALL THE THINGS SHE COULD HAVE FORGOTTEN, SHE FORGETS MY FATHER'S WATCH! I SPECIFICALLY TOLD HER : BEDSIDE TABLE, ON THE CANGAROO.
ОтветитьI Don't Know Much About Watches But Based On Provenance, I Would've Bet It Would've Been Worth A Whole Lot More. Thank You.
ОтветитьThere is a Lovejoy Novel by Jonathan Gash, in which our hero, makes a leeser Brough Motorbike, into the Brough Superior SS100, with changed number plate, and found in Dorset and has a swagger stick. Lovejoy of course sells it for a cheap price only multiple times its worth, to someone who thinks they have Lawrence's Original🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Why, when watching this 'new' looking watch, was I reminded of this?
To not know T E Shaw from Clouds Hill , Dorset was in fact T E Lawrence is just about acceptable , to think Lawrence of Arabia was a fictional character is just beyond belief
ОтветитьPriceless 😊
Ответить................"I'd better get it insured!" Say no more!
ОтветитьRick would have gave him 50 bucks for it🤣🤣
ОтветитьCan't imagine a collectible like that going for less than hundreds of thousands if not millions of pounds!
ОтветитьMoonwatchUniverse Tumblr blog has written a complete history how this Omega Aviator chronograph came in the hands of ThomaS Edward Lawrence (1888 - 1935 ) aka "Lawrence of Arabia" aka " TE Shaw" !
ОтветитьRidiculously low valuation
ОтветитьYeah...yeah...yeah
