It's so weird when the chefs in these places just don't get it, and think they know best. They're working at a place where nobody wants to eat, and it's suddenly full just because there's a guy sitting there who runs a ton of restaurants where people not only want to eat, but will pay quite a lot to do so. And they take every piece of feedback that isn't positive like it's an insult they need to defend themselves against. You work in a place that's literally failing because of your shit food! You don't HAVE an argument! The way they watch Gordon eating the food, you can tell they think they're not the reason the place is failing, and that he's going to rave about their food, so they can quit their job there and go work somewhere better, for more money. They're just desperate to hear praise from Gordon. If the food was worthy of praise, people would eat there!

always makes me laugh when the owners of a struggling place argues with a world class chef whose there to help them

i mean im literally a kid, and istg i can cook so much better than most of these ppl. Idk what's so hard about it. It's just tomato potato, salt and pepper, shallots and garlic. I mean it's the same ingredient but some ppl turn it into a dark magic witchcraft death potion. Some of that food look nasty.

You just gotta learn the very basics, know how to cook, like learn shit like chopping, portion size, how long to cook, what ingredient mix and becomes what, and then you can season to taste, and improvise however you like.

I think cooking is very much...just logic. I mean if you add to much salt, its salty, add some sugar and vinegar its sweet and sour. Add a little bit of fish sauce it'll give a pungent funky taste. Add some butter and milk its creamy.

And then everything else, is just under that big umbrella. All the fancy word you hear al dente aoli sous vide chiffonade can be understand very quickly and simply.


Idk how some ppl can cook like that, and open a restaurant. Just take a step back and use your brain a lil, and you can become a good cook. Not michelin or anythin. just ameteur (like me) but at least i know people like my food for real, and i can make things taste good


Just use what u have, and you can clearly tell if the food is bad. If it's black, it's burnt, why lie to yourself?
