I like most of your vids, but have to shake my head on this one. There's not enough days in a life time for this method. When you cut or slice a tomato..... simply take a knife and pick a seed from a tomato touch to piece of paper towel and your done. in the following year you plant seed and part of paper towel and your done. this way you'll have hours watching grass grow. still, thanks for all your vids.

I did this and the seeds lost all colour and looks fairly flat. Is that okay? is there an amount of time that is too long to leave them in water?

I’m brand new gardener , I soaked the tomatoes seeds I can see some little bit of mold, but it’s not the whole container. Should I wait till it’s the whole container it’s been sitting in water with a lid cocked open some I’m wondering if that’s wrong or do I need to wait till the whole thing is totally covered like I saw your video.

Do you think it would hurt to dry in the dehydrator on lowest setting?

Great video , but I have found that through years of saving heirloom seeds, that after you rinse the pulp off, of your seeds in the strainer, it is much more effective to put the seeds back into a container of water. Let them sit in the container for about 15 minutes, then you will see some of the seeds floating, as well as some of them floating between the top and bottom of the container . You must discard all of them. Only keep the ones that have stayed in the bottom. My germination rate has been incredible since doing this for years . 100 percent germination rate is usually unheard of , but I have been getting it for several years, by using this method of elimination of seed separation. Best of luck to everyone.

A folded paper towel on the bottom side of the strainer would draw a lot of the water out before you dump them out on the drying towel.

Appreciate you sharing how you do the seeds, Danny. As I have time I'm trying to watch some of your older videos on how you do things.
I do my seeds very similar and have so far been good for a couple years. Thanks again and blessings to you and Wanda.

I've seen other videos and read articles on the topic, and some people skip the fermentation step and just wash the gel off and dry the seeds. I'm confused. Is the fermentation step necessary, or do these other people's seeds not germinate? Not doubting your obviously tried and true method, just wondering. Thank you for the video.

QUESTION: I’m saving some seeds from veggies I got at a farmers market. I’m about to move back down south, on to some land I bought when I was young..and I REALLY want a small garden again. Up here in the northern Poconos, I’m renting and have mainly just had container “gardens” I keep inside most of the year..I also have bags of leftover seeds from my indoor plants. My question: I was told that seeds keep better and last longer if kept in the fridge? I’ve been keeping mine in the fridge and have used my Bak Choy (Chinese cabbage) seeds for 3 years now-they give me great plants every year so far..and because I’m growing inside, I sometimes start some in late summer, early fall so I have plenty year round (I eat and share a LOT of Bak Choy..I’m NOT paying $7-8/lb for a head of Bak Choy that will go bad before I use it all!). My question is whether it’s true they keep better, kept in plastic bags inside a paper bag to keep them out of any light. Also, when we move, I told my girls we’ll take a couple of coolers in their SUV (they are NOT happy, but I’m not throwing away full bottles of things like dressing, LaoGanMa (hot crispy bean sauce), Mayo, etc 🤷🏼‍♀️) and I’ll put my bag in so my seeds don’t get shocked by temperature difference. The girls think i’m being silly NOW..but if I have fresh veggies for them in the spring, somehow I doubt they’ll complain. They finished off my latest Bak Choy and we gave away most of my herbs since I’d already cut & dried enough to last awhile. Although I’m NOT a fan of North Florida summer heat..I’ve already had my heat on up here for the past 3 weeks..at least most nights. I almost lost my grape tomatoes I grow on my porches last week when one night it dipped into the mid 30’s. (Mylar saved them). It’s going to be SO nice to have a REAL garden again…

Good video, I was afraid mine were messed up, afterwards. Mine were tan and fuzzy under a magnifying glass, I was thinking they'd come out more like you see them before the process.

I Usually just spray the seeds clean in the wire strainer right out of the ripe tomato with the water sprayer, it removes the gel coating, and of course laid out to dry and in my experience I have always had them grow. 😀

Does it matter if you use city/chlorinated water? Coffee filters are good replacement for paper towels, they won't rip when wet :)
