This a great Sherlock Holmes film.
John Neville is brilliant as Holmes also staring a young Judi dench, who would go on to play M in bond.
This is one of the better JACK THE RIPPER films.
Great to see again in very good picture quality.

An intelligent script, well acted and not too long. The exact opposite of the film I saw yesterday: OPPENHEIMER.

Classic & timeless movies. Good cast & John Neville an underrated great actor.

Think the prozzies were a bit to well dressed for the time and acting so so but otherwise OK for sixties film

Having watched this I feel COMPELLED to write a story where Inspector G. Lestrade is a Columbo type character. Only consults with Holmes when stymied but ultimately solves the case.

So Jack the Ripper was Lord Carfax all along, who knew?

Whoever did it for real was probably known and was all swept under the carpet forever.

The prostitutes are too well dressed and far too clean to be realistic. In truth, the poor women who were slaughtered in 1888 were starving, addicted to gin and homeless. They were in a pathetic state and defenceless.

Personally being English , I do think the brutal murders were down to Syphilis which affected the rich and poor and the very wealthiest the monarchy which I do like the film called hell which pinpoints that it is to do with the monarchy the Prince was seen the Prince of Wales at the time was seen as one of the culprits and I feel that he had syphilis studied surgery and if we can cover up in 21st century for people like Prince Andrew do you not think that they would’ve covered up for Prince of Wales back in Victorian Britain

i fed the homeless each week in London years ago, they were still making them sing Catholic hymns to receive the stew. I think they packed that in eventually.
