This 80-minute documentary focuses on the growing "wealth gap" in America, as seen through the eyes of filmmaker Jamie Johnson, a 27-year-old heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical fortune. Johnson, who cut his film teeth at NYU and made the Emmy®-nominated 2003 HBO documentary Born Rich, here sets his sights on exploring the political, moral and emotional rationale that enables a tiny percentage of Americans - the one percent - to control nearly half the wealth of the entire United States. The film Includes interviews with Nicole Buffett, Bill Gates Sr., Adnan Khashoggi, Milton Friedman, Robert Reich, Ralph Nader and other luminaries.

There was one thing what Milton Friedman didn't explain to this boy clearly, the problem is not that the wealthy people create more products and services in economy, the real problem is how rich are benefiting from printing infinite money that the federal reserve print every year and giving to the wealthiest people first who then buy hard assets and creating more wealth gap with corruption, not with actual productivity, that's what really makes life for the poor people every day more and more expensive and harder.

He is exposing the EVIL hoarding of wealth to the few while 360 million Americans are suffering. They WILL NOT pay workers a living wage. They WILL NOT allow unions to give workers a decent wage. Here in TX they pay $10-12 hour with NO benefits. Capitalism only works for those 1% with money. They DON'T want to pay taxes. They DON'T want democracy where citizens vote. They want an authoritarian dictator who corrupts the gov't by stealing, committing crimes and getting away with it (trump).

God doesn't give anyone anything, you just have to take it for yourself. No one isn't going to save you. My father was sent to an orphanage when he was young and then ended up with an aunt who was a millionaire, well she ditched him on another aunt who was extremely poor, whom, herself, eventually ditched him as well. He eventually became a millionaire on his own without any help from any family members because no one cared. I, eventually, set out on my own to become a millionaire on my own. I never asked my father for money or even how he invested stocks to become a millionaire. I invest stocks wildly differently from my father. He likes American companies while I love foreign companies. What little family I still have left doesn't have anything to do with me ironically. I've never prayed to a god for anything nor do I care to. You're either lucky, deliberant and persistent to thrive or you give in to sloviness and rot like something useless. Some people you can't help because they don't want to be helped. What I see here with this guy's family giving him the cold shoulder is not them hiding anything. What's going on is father has tried to change things before and it didn't work. He knows you can't change the wealth gap because all millionaires have the best lawyers and CPAs that help them get the maximum tax cuts possible. You're not going to change that because we know the law and the poorer tax payers don't. So, they pay more. Simple as that. All this knowledge adds up after years and it becomes a way of life. A whole different system running parallel to the average person's everyday life. Maybe it can be changed. Maybe we can transition from corporation business structures to cooperative business structures. That would help quite a bit. It would give workers ownership of some of the large companies they work for, get rid of all the neo-cons in government and institute mandatory personal finance classes for two semesters in high school would all be very helpful places to start. The situation is not totally hopeless. I would also like to state that America is not a christian country but we became one eventually. Christians don't write their own interpretations of the bible. I'm talking about you ex-president Thomas Jefferson! This country is one of the last bastions of the old Greek democracy. No one, be it god or man, was above being questioned then and shouldn't be above questioning now.

Dear Mr. Jamie Johnson,

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude and admiration for your extraordinary contributions to our society. Your documentary, a masterpiece titled "1%," has not only unveiled the stark realities hidden within the corridors of wealth but has also showcased the remarkable courage and determination that defines you as a hero and a national treasure.

In a world where the pursuit of truth is often overshadowed by various interests, your fearless endeavor to expose the hypocrisy and greed ingrained within the 1% is nothing short of commendable. The level of courage it took to create such a documentary is akin to the bravery displayed by warriors on the battlefield during times of war. Your commitment to shedding light on the darker aspects of society sets you apart as a beacon of integrity and moral fortitude.

As I reflect on the valuable lessons embedded in your documentary, I am reminded of the age-old adage that greed is the downfall of all mankind. Your work serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of addressing this critical issue that affects us all. Your dedication to uncovering the truth and confronting uncomfortable realities deserves not only applause but also profound respect.

In my eyes, you have not only earned every penny of your inheritance but have also enriched the collective consciousness with a powerful narrative that demands attention and reflection. Your work goes beyond the boundaries of filmmaking; it is a testament to your commitment to justice, honesty, and the well-being of our society.

As you embark on future endeavors, I extend my sincerest wishes for continued success and happiness. May your unwavering dedication to truth and justice inspire others to question, learn, and strive for a more equitable and compassionate world.

Sincerely yours,

Thomas H. Brown Jr.

I cant help but think this was a ruse to deflect other problems at the time. It's honestly shocking how unintellectual some of the old money generations are. Its like the lack of needing to think or problem solve has turned them into vegetables. Some, like the son, are cursed with intelligence because he is completely empathetic about the situation of his own wealth. It seems like the ones that are empathetic are constantly battling major depression.

This kid showed just how emotionally-driven his arguments are when he thought he could waltz into Milton Friedman's house and challenge him on his ideas while admitting he hadn't even read his work beyond college reading assignments. That's just embarrassing. In every other scene, he ambushes people who do not debate or ponder economic theory for a living and he catches them off guard, then uses that to make them look sinister or ruthless. I sure hope this guy ends up proving he's not a hypocrite by donating his entire inheritance and raising his kids on his filmmaking income. Something tells me he hasn't and is never going to.

To argue that the Johnson & Johnson heir doesn't deserve to be fabulously wealthy, when every household in America either owns their products, or received their COVID vaccine BY CHOICE, is silly. Want to know what that's better than? It's better than the ruler of a country appointing his buddies to be the heads of specific industries, allowing them to enrich themselves by dipping their hands in the profits while forcing everyone else to wait in bread lines. There is no economic system that can produce the type of wealth equality this naive little boy is espousing.

They aren’t even the 1% more like the 1 promille. They are so few and own so much it’s unimaginable. When they speak of kindness and love it’s love and kindness for those with their dna. They don’t fight unions because they love people. They don’t fight to keep their taxes low and the minimum wage even lower out of kindness.

I’ve met a lot of people my age that became so much better off then me. When I was young I used to think that intelligence was the only thing I needed to be wealthy.

Then as I got older I started to notice a lot of dumb arrogant people do way better than me. That’s when it finally hit. Your parents and social connections determine a whole lot about your future. I still haven’t accepted defeat. It will just take me way longer to get to where they are because my parents gave me nothing.

One of the most important documentaries of our time. I feel the need to highlight the ideology of wealthy Christians who believe that their money is a boon from God. If your God purposely grants extravagant luxury to a few while the many starve in abject poverty....your God is evil.
