I think you are forgetting most people wear fast fashion because that’s what they can afford and fast fashion deteriorates quickly
Also once a trend comes out - that’s all anyone is selling
Vintage consignment and the goodwill use to be a place to find good pieces at affordable prices if you went to the right neighborhood but now even that is gone
And style is about making yourself presentable to the world and knowing what is appropriate to wear for particular events venues and social engagements
And don’t get me started on being plus size

I've seen so many videos about what's "in" and what's "out". I ignore the noise of social media and select items that speak to my style. I am also very happy that I established my personal style before I got out in these internet streets. The outfits of your favorite creators can be very alluring, and it's easy to just buy what they buy, and call it a day.

Not copying but I have definitely learned from your style-I shop very differently now and love the result- am learning to combine pieces, get dresses that have opening down the front that I can wear as a long jacket and a dress, for example. It works. Thank you.

I’ve been trying to figure out my style again since having a baby and this new mom body and it’s been so hard on top of literally starting over and going through a divorce. If I could wear leggings everyday I would, but that doesn’t work working in HR. But I have become a fan of wide leg pants I just have a hard time finding them.

As a personal stylist, Jesse, I can agree with your assessment. Style is so subjective and personal, but sometimes people have gotten so much bad input that they have taken their cues from ads, social media and friends, that means well, but have left that person completely confused. Instinctively, I believe everyone has the ability to know what their style is if they can divorce themselves from fashion marketing ideas that they have internalize as their own. A professional can help narrow down the time, effort and mistakes, if that person wants to quickly establish their style. My first client was me. I had trials and errors, with a lot of time spent and expensive mistakes along the way. However, I enjoyed the experience. Being able to ask the right questions, can help in aiding that process. I guess I'm a snob about fabric, therefore, I also upgraded my favorite pieces from wool blends (being less wool and more other) through 100% merino wool to 100% quality cashmere. But having a stylist is a luxury, an expensive and not for everyone. If you don't mind spending time, you can do it yourself. To me, finding your style is the process like therapy, because, it's an expression of self, showing self awareness and self confidence. Hopefully, this makes sense.

My mother identified for me early in life that style isn't determined by labels or price... I began developing my personal style when I was very young... More than "Social Media" it's my position that people don't appreciate "INDIVIDUALITY"... Self knowledge is a beautiful thing... If we are afraid to look inside & get to know the beauty that is within... Self expression thru our clothing choices will continue to be guided by the masses & "Cookie cutter" looks will continue to win! 😟☹️😕

It took me so long to try to figure out my style, and I finally found my groove🤭 One of the best pieces of advice that helped me elevate the style I love was tailoring. OMGEE!! That hands down changed the game for me! My jeans and dresses that just weren’t fitted right, now look perfected. I think a tailored look is a polished look🤗 Thank you being authentically you!!
