I don't get why these are so expensive?!?!? that don't sound $2000+ good to me.
Ответить🙌🙌🙌🙌
ОтветитьI bought one of these new, years ago. I sent away for it and it wasn't very expensive, like a couple of hundred dollars. I don't know anything about the clones or other overdrives, but I love the Klon Centaur. It is very useful, giving a variety of musical sounds from clean boost to a driven sound. It really nails the tones in between clean and distorted. I like the tone control. I wouldn't buy one today, because the cost too much used.
ОтветитьMate why didn't you farken max the knobs?
ОтветитьNice!!
ОтветитьFar more options on the clones these days. You'd have to be some asshat to buy an original.
ОтветитьOCD is a great overdrive. I use it as my main distortion with an Xotic RC booster for light crunch. Vai still does and Satriani did use DS-1s for years as well. Jeff Beck seems to manage to make the Centaur sound OK!! (tongue firmly in cheek) The Centaur looks like maybe a replacement for my RC Booster. There must be someone that does a clone for way cheaper. I bet there's not that much circuitry in there if you opened it up. Unless your a brand nazi who cares if it does the job. Like the RC Booster the Centaur doesnt seem to change the eq of the tone which is a good thing IMHO unlike a tubescreamer.
ОтветитьA lot of the venues we play have shitty sound. Whether it's my OCD, Lovepedal, Mojohand Rook or modded TS9, The overall sound is so bad in a club I might as well have a Boss DS1. sometimes the venue kills the whole point of owning something like a Klon Centaur.
Ответитьthey're going for almost $2k on eBay right now on the average... crazy
ОтветитьAgreed 100%.
ОтветитьI bought a new Klon Centaur about 7-8 years ago, used with a Fender Vibrolux with an old Tele. Purchase price was around $250, had a lead time of 2-3 months. Sounded great in large settings, nothing special in a small room. I did ask Bill Finnegan later, if the gold units were different than the silver, he said "No". I'm currently using an Esquire with a Mesa Boogie and a Keeley Compressor, much better sound. Don't waste your money on a gold unit. You can email me at [email protected]
ОтветитьBrother Man speaks the truth! Personally, I think these small companies intentionally delay production in order to maintain the long waits on several famous wait-list pedals. It hypes their brand overall, puts said pedal in some "mythical context", and I wouldn't be surprised if they also got involved in selling them through a third party on auction sites to enjoy outrageous profits. There are clowns who will pay a fortune for "Fairy Piss Voodoo-Mojo BS".
ОтветитьNice video! I'm always trying to hear the decay in these tests and you're one of the few that let it ring. Thanks! For who's wondering what am I talking about, listen carefully at 0:08 and 0:33.
Ответитьabsolutely. but i guess the same could be said for much of the good gear in life. vintage AC30s, Fuzz Faces, Tubescreamers, etc. but fair point indeed.
ОтветитьThe OCD is a fine pedal. My main issue with them really are the large (4 now?) major revisions of the pedal that are hard to keep track of.
Ответитьthe OCD is funny. first it was incredibly overrated. then the mindless tools at TGP caught on, and in an effort to seem relevant, decided to unload on it. this made it incredibly UNDERRATED. i'm waiting for it to become popular again so that people can correctly call it "overrated" btw. it's a fantastic box. it just wasn't made in limited runs with fairy piss with a 3-year long waiting list. and it costs under $700. go figure.
ОтветитьSuperb overdrive. There is a reason the Klon has the rep. it does.
Ответить@jacknuts22 no, the most overrated pedal is the fulltone OCD.
ОтветитьYour Two Rock sounds good. Cheers.
ОтветитьHaters gotta hate......and they all probably still live with their mommies!
ОтветитьI think I must agree. I have an MI Audio Tube Zone version 3 that just is about 4 levels more sophisticated than this pedal.
