Good old reliable.
This is why businesses around the world have been using Topre since the 80's, if you need a keyboard that works flawlessly 100% of the time there is no substitute.
What about the Leopold FC660C?
ОтветитьI have nicer keyboards that I can type faster with but keep finding myself doing the same and daily driving a modded and lubed HHKB Hybrid.
ОтветитьUpstroke silencing rings on a non-TypeS I find turns it into almost a Linear, which I LOVE. I actually think the Type-S that I have is much worse than the non-typeS that I silenced.
ОтветитьWhy custom keyboards are unreliable?
I make my very cheap ass custom 1.5 years ago, with one of outemu silent switches, XDA keycap profile... And it's still fine. Never disappointed or lagged also typing is pleasure and like 5 times more silent that regular (not mechanical) keyboard. I lubed it twice from that time btw.
Try the Lucy silent linears from divinikeys. I think they really don't suck.
Ответитьthe next silent switch you should try are the Lichicx silent switches. it has three types: a linear, a tactile with a small bump and one with a big bump. Ive had it on my keyboard for a while and I love it. I hate mushy silent switches as well and out of all the silent switches I tried these are the least mushy.
ОтветитьYooo $2.00 up-charge for a fried egg is criminal.
Ответитьmy pro2 is the best keyboard i ever used
ОтветитьTry TTC Frozens~! Very similar to "Topre" feeling on MX style switch~ (Though it's linear, can't explain the feel until you try it!)
ОтветитьEven my good old ReDragon keyboard is pretty loud. If I had a job, my manager would cook me for using it if nearby co-workers get mad.
ОтветитьWhat is the thing you have on your desk with all your cables plugged in to?
ОтветитьThis video is like a car guy explaining why he owns an unmodified Toyota Camry - he's not gonna be enthusiastic about this, but it sure as hell gets the job done.
ОтветитьTime to try the gateron gecko switches
ОтветитьI think something like the tiger80 lite with all foam and some more quiet switches like gateron box inks would also serve your use case quite good since it fells amazing sounds nice and not so loud and its out of abs plastic so it
Don’t suffers from the electro shock issue
All of the same exact reasons I use the HHKB pro2 since 2017 as a daily driver (yeah, some 1 or 2 months here and there trying other stuff, but always defaulting to HHKB). I never got shocked, but I had customs that need to be unplugged and plugged every other day, maybe that was the reason.
ОтветитьI dislike HHKB for only 1 reason: the backspace causes a lot of typos.
It's like a step of stair is a little higher than the rest, it will cause a fall.
I got both a HHKB and the Leopold silent version..... Leopold Topre silent is godlike, the keycap profile, the layout, the weight and build, Leopold known for the best pre build keyboards in the business, extremely high quality key caps, and with the Topre Silent had 0 rattle on any key not even on the spacebar out of the box. I get the appeal of HHKB but Leopold Topre Silent are the best, I even returned a keyboard that costed me 700 usd for it, the Kinesis advantage 360 pro. Also the stock HHKB sounds like typing on Lego's, the stock Leopold Silent sounds better than the HHKB lubed. Unreal Topre Modification Guide (look this up on Google to make your Topre experience even beter, it will guide you to Unreal Topre's site that also sells all the lubes and other stuff) That dude is known in the community for being the best Topre modder.
ОтветитьAfter buying and using the Pok3r for a month, I immediately knew what my "endgame" keyboard would look like. It took me a while of experimenting with different parts to get there - but I eventually did.
I have a 60% custom (like a custom custom, not an off the shelf "custom") keyboard with my own keymap, kailh box silents, and a wooden case to eliminate the risk of static shock. And I had to go with a custom build, because virtually no manufacturer offers a 60% layout with split right shift.
I have a box of spare parts, like switches or pre-flashed PCBs in case of a catastrophic failure, and a fully built spare for double the safety.
The keyboard is a work tool. First and foremost it needs to be an extension of yourself, so that you can input whatever you need without even thinking about it. I am kinda surprised by the direction this hobby took, it seems the new motto is "thock over function".
Get a Pro 2, brah. The key feel is peak Topre.
ОтветитьAfter many years of wasting my time with keyboards, HHKB is the only survivor.
ОтветитьOh so it's not just me with the weird Lulu wake issues
ОтветитьI find that I'm in a similar boat, though, I've always held HHKB in a higher regard than JVMV (if I buy a 60 percent, it has to be HHKB format).
Customs are nice, but often times are really embellished and irreplaceable. For example, HHKB is portable and always readily stocked if for some reason I break mines (never did btw). My Sangeo65 is heavier and not privy to movement (it has a weight for a reason) and the fact that I cannot get the board anymore from the first party means that I am afraid to move it in the first place or expose it to anything than my clean home desk. Its a recreational item, work doesn't get done on it.
HHKB is a great tool, just not the best "Experience" possible.
Haimu heartbeats?
ОтветитьI have tried couple keyboards and personally I have just stuck with Keychron K2 v2 with red switches. It's popular brand and popular model. And as hybrid user 75% is only layout I would use, since it has everything you need in compact layout and it's essentially same as laptop so you have consistency. Function keys are really common in some games, software etc. And it's just quite nice to have that F row as media keys, Function keys, or maybe for assigning macros or something. And frankly I just need my F5.
Only reason for more compact layout is if you actually need extra space for mouse movement as pro fps gamer or something.
And I have personally never encountered or heard about static issues, at very least not anything that has affected electronics.

ОтветитьDo you have any custom mechs made in the last year, from mid-size manufacturers? They are a lot less jank.
ОтветитьIn your former reviews you said that leopold is a better topre experience than hhkb, what changed, why do you think differently now? Trying do decide which one to get hhkb or leopold.
Ответитьi love my HHKB type s to death an i refuse to use anything else
ОтветитьHaimu whispers bro all I use in my epomaker 96LS - absolutely perfect for the office and still feel great
ОтветитьThat pretty much sums up my experience as well. I have a couple of hundred dollars spent on keyboards and it's . . .fun. It's important tor remember that custom keebs are hobby. When it's time to do work or when reliability matters, the hhkb comes out. My only regret is that the spring tension for the hhkb pro2 is intense compared to most linears.
Ответитьclassic ally 🤝
ОтветитьGateron holy pandas my friend. Tactile with a creamy sound. I use these at work on my zoom tkl that has flex cuts. Great for office use.
ОтветитьI heard gateron gecko doesn't feel mushy
ОтветитьThis is a bit off topic but I generally don't like Korean restaurants. Once they get popular the amount of food you get decreases but they increase the price.
ОтветитьAfter owning customs of all sizes, layouts, mounting styles, plate and switch combos, I spend almost 40hrs of my working hours with my RF2 and choose to have no other.
I have started imagining my Topre boards to be like the Honda's / Toyota's that I'd use to commute to work and meet clients etc. while the customs are the Project Cars that I use only when I'm not working.
Most of these problems were overcome with just getting a tiger 80 light. The TKL so you'll have all the functionality you need, and it's a plastic case so you won't get shocked.
Ответитьcustomcels seething over toprechads
ОтветитьTo my knowledge, only Matias Reds and Gazzew U4 switches are good silent traditional mech switches - at least stock (Aliaz dampened sliders in JWICK tactile housings are fine, but require consumption of time)-; rest are either mushy or rough feeling. After a while of daily driving a bunch of different boards, HHKB has really become the "just works" keyboard for me, with the extra USB ports being useful for if I need expansion (say for a numpad or something).
ОтветитьHmm, never had this problem. You are probably thor. :p
Ответитьhhkb is love
Ответитьdid you just mention all but the king of silents, the boba u4?
ОтветитьYou should give them Haimu Silent switches a try, they use a different kind of silencing method (instead of the usual squishy rubber/silicone) that may not be as silent as "complete silence" but dampens out the sound without feeling overly mushy.
Haimu silent switches includes:
_ Haimu Heartbeat (Linear)
- Haimu Whisper (Tactile)
- Haimu Seasalt Lemon Silent (Linear)
- Haimu x Geon Silent Red (Linear)
- Haimu x Geon Silent Yellow (Tactile)
- Wuque Studio WS Silent Linear
- Wuque Studio WS Silent Tactile
Personally, I after trying out the WS Silent Linear/Tactile, I do feel like the silencing seemed to be working better on the Tactiles. Silent enough without the mush (coming from Boba U4)
HHKB is just the best.
Ответитьfor research purpose, what is the name of that alice board?
ОтветитьMy HHKB became my daily because it arrived faster than the nearly 2 years for my customs to ship
ОтветитьNo sound test? 😥
