Marine Le Pen has become ‘the face’ of the European right

Webster University assistant professor Ralph Schoellhammer says the face of the competent European right “seems to be female” with Marine Le Pen at the helm.

French President Emmanuel Macron has called a snap election as the far-right national rally trounced the president's party in the EU elections.

“I am deeply impressed ... with the way in which she changed the National Rally," Mr Schoellhammer told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“She really made it, on the one hand, a respectable party but she still stuck to the issues that are important for the people that make it the right-wing party.”
