I’m stuck on this
ОтветитьHi. Finding this one so hard. After the Am DUD opening and before F DDU UDU is there extra strumming on Am? I’m finding it so hard to pick it up 🙄 I love these videos. Best for uke by far! 🎵🎶😊
ОтветитьAlmost impossible to do island strum and sing. But I found a way...I earnt the chord changes and island strum first. Then I muted the strings and just strummed and hummed. Then I progressed to singing whilst strumming, still muted. Once I'd got that down I put it at together. It's that muscle memory..your hand needs to strum independently of the melody you are trying to sing. It works practising this way and isess frustrating!!
ОтветитьSwitching to the G cord with the island strum is quite challenging! Getting those 3 fingers in the right place quickly and firmly (while strumming) has required some practice drills. I just love these videos and the encouragement that accompanies them.
ОтветитьI love this song. It’s very difficult for me to sing and play at the same time. I have faith that I will do it! I’m enjoying this, but it is much longer than a 30 day challenge!
Ответитьnice
Ответитьi find it really hard to island strum to this lesson, anyone knows how should i pace the island strum when changing cords?
ОтветитьFollowing the 30 day challenge!
ОтветитьIt is so so hard to sing and strum a strum I have to think about at the same time. I might as well be trying to fly. 😂 But practice will prove itself in time.
ОтветитьI find it very hard to work out when to change chords if it’s not in a straight dd or uu or Dudu pattern. Do you change in the middle of the dduudu pattern? And how to you know at what stroke? And it’s so hard to get back into the strumming pattern once you lost it. Any tips?
Would it be possible to put the strums (DDUUDU) above the words so we can see where to sing what and also on which bit of the strum to change the chord?
Havent mastered it, but I have made a lot of progress. It took me a while to coordinate the strum, chords, and singing. At first I could strum but not sing it because as soon as I introduced words my strum became DUDU on day 1. On day 2, first, I hummed, then after that for a bit, I said a non-sense word out loud for a bit as I went through the song, and then I started using the lyrics. I am convinced that just practicing and chunking the songs in very small parts are the ways to get it all in sync.
ОтветитьIts tough.
Ответитьthose Cs before the chorus are so exciting
ОтветитьI am stuck on this video, I cant do the island strum and play the chords and much less sing. How long does it take to be able to do this?
ОтветитьI am very beginner so getting it slowly, first the notes then the strum but have no idea how to get thhe song, i feel like I need the
Am//// F//// C/// etc but cant figure out how many DDUUDU per /. Is there hope for me?
like i see the print out and have no clue how to transition from one note to the next because not sure how many strums or strum loops per note. Is there a way to know or just by feel?
My brain is fuming :D :D I've been trying to strum AND sing for about two days and it's still a hot mess :D This will take some more days (or weeks!) ahhhhh
...two weeks later and I'm kind of stuck with this song :(
im getting it! you are an awesome teacher. Question...I wanted to practice the song so looked for your tutorial for the same song and I see theres an Em note somewhere there, which is different than this version. Is it just to keep things simple or does it make a difference etc?
ОтветитьDo you have a play along for this song where we can see you playing the whole song? tried to look for other videos, couldn't find you but I like you and others confuse me. thanks!
ОтветитьI am loving this challenge! Question though, it says 30 days but some lessons have homework for day 1, day 2 day 3, etc. Are the lessons to be overlapped or some are meant to be practiced more than a day and therefore wait to start the next one? Thx much!
ОтветитьThe G7 is almost imperceptible from the G. And it is a lot easier transition from C or F to a G7. I don't want to improve on Creedence Clearwater, but It is OK to use that shortcut? (Your lessons are terrific). Bernie Schenkler
ОтветитьRock n' Roll ✌🏼❤️
ОтветитьOh man… I was doing pretty well until this one! The second I start to sing I lose the strum pattern. I’ve tried to hold the strum for a full minute or so just to maintain the pattern, but literally the second I start singing, I throw it off. Any tips?
ОтветитьOh my goodness, this is a fun lesson. I already loved this song, so getting to learn to play it is a real treat!
ОтветитьI love this song! It's so warm and it fits my voice. Thank you!
ОтветитьOmg i can't believe that i am almost done with it(i have lot's of mistakes but still!!!!!)
ОтветитьWhat ukulele is that? It’s so pretty.
ОтветитьI ove your tutorials. Where do I find the sheet with the words and notes?
ОтветитьI totally dig this lesson. It's so much fun to play along with the actual song, feels like being in a band.
Ответитьcan you please do a tutorial for the Slow Dancing In A Burning Rooms Riff ?? I love all of your videos you are really great!!
ОтветитьDoes anyone have any advice on singing and strumming at the same time? I......cannot do it hahahhahah
ОтветитьI was writing down the lyrics of the song and I accidentally wrote "there's a calm before the strum" and I think it describes perfectly what I'm feeling as a beginner haha
Thank you so much for these lessons, they're all fun and super helpful. You're a great teacher!
Having problems with the strumming😒
ОтветитьI like it but it’s a little bit too tricky for me.
ОтветитьLooking for the printout
ОтветитьYour videos are too short and hurried
ОтветитьI'm finding it impossible to sing and play I find I'm changing strumming to match my singing or changing singing to match the strumming.
ОтветитьIt's only rock ❤ roll but I like it. ☺🤟
Ответитьwhats hard for me as a begginer is that we are doing slowly only intro and after that we just plaing song , idk maybe im dumb but its hard to tell for me how many times you play C by this strum. Is it only one D DU UDU for " Someone told me.....before the storm"?
ОтветитьHi what is this song called please?
Ответить33 year old kindergarten teacher here, and man oh man.. I have been trying to master the riptide strum since I mastered the island strum and now when I sing this song... I unconsciously begin riptide strumming 😵💫 This 30 day challenge is taking me longer since I feel guilty not mastering this step! So important, to be able to do it all.. switch chords, strum on beat in island strum, and sing!!! Keep me in your pray, y'all.
ОтветитьI'm old enough to remember CCR. My older brother was a big fan. Like all brothers, as youngters we were adversarial , and so CCR's music did not appeal to me. We're both in our mid to late sixties now, I've come to like CCR, and my brother and I have learned, finally, to get along.
Ответитьit is amazing how your playlist you created in 2018 is inspiring me to learn in 2024. Amazing tutorials 😊
ОтветитьWhat is the name of your uke?
ОтветитьThat’s a good song. I think my favorite cord to listen to is the C major chord.
ОтветитьThanks for this one! Not a song i would've chosen to learn on my own but so fun and helping me to build my confidence and repertoire!
ОтветитьBeautiful tutorial!!! I've been playing ukulele for a month now and this song was just perfect, I was able to play it right away, thank youuuu
ОтветитьDear Bernadette, thank you so much for your 30 Day Uke Challenge an especially for this song! I ´ve made the whole challenge yet, but this song I play every day and I love it! Even if it doesn´t yet work to play it completely by heart, I ´m on my way. 🙏😊❤
ОтветитьThis song actually sounds better on the ukulele in my opinion
