I'm not sure who this was for. I was a huge nintendo dweeb and an obsessive computer user right around the time this came out and I would've wigged out over a majora's mask themed browser, but I never knew this existed. They did not market this very well, huh
ОтветитьThat wallpaper is awesome
Ответитьi really like that desktop background ;o; gimme lol
ОтветитьI completely forgot about the Pokémon web browser
ОтветитьI remember these but every company had weird computer stuff in the 90’s.
Cap’n Crunch had this sick game that came with the cereal.
Wait wait wait you're saying there was an officially licensed pokémon internet browser? THATTTT shoulda been the thumbnail, the clickbait view count on that would be 📈📈📈
ОтветитьIt's a nice touch that the top left logo its animated while the website is loading.
ОтветитьI remember these!! Ahh, they were so cool! I used the Pokemon GS and Majora's Mask ones for a while.
Ответитьone day you will have to explain were you find there old newspaper article in perfect state 😂
Ответитьhey michael i have a idea for your next video after the one you just made there is a project thats out that revived the wii shop channel its called the rii shop channel and its not that hard to setup from what i saw
ОтветитьI remember there was a "Metroid Prime" internet browser that I tried getting to work forever ago but never did.
It came out around 2002 in a GameCube promo CD along with probably a bunch of other things too.
I just find it really funny that the icons for these skinned browsers is just the game logo with the game's name and no mention of "internet browser" in the name.
I think the Nintendo Power one may have been one that would change monthly. If you notice in the upper left it had the month and "issue" number. My guess is each month the promoted game would update. The base install was just Banjo.
ОтветитьI had something like this at the time (or I guess a little before), but it was a themeable browser with a gen1 theme instead of gen2. There were a whole bunch of other themes for it, too and I imagine it was also just a reskin of IE. Probably not as official or anything, might have to try and see if I can find any reference to it having existed sometime.
ОтветитьDamn that logo on the thumbnail was so convincing that I wanted to believe it real.
ОтветитьI had a Soul Calibur 2 one
ОтветитьI remember downloading these back in the day. Even as a kid I realized they were basically just skins for IE. I don't think I used them seriously as a web browser, my main browser was Netscape and later Firefox. I had no idea about the later GameCube era browsers though. I think by that point the novelty of software trinkets was gone.
ОтветитьI wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo made a prototype Mario game for Windows 98.
ОтветитьBack from day when companies offered those useless toolbars for Windows XP.
ОтветитьMore web browser content please :)
ОтветитьAll I can think about is how those guys would have made bank now
ОтветитьIt is werider than safari for Windows also is it possible to work on modern versions of Windows
Ответитьat that time I was a kid "developing" in Visual Basic. and one of the available component was IE browser.
I remember doing very similar stuff but for my own use. So I believe they did the same here
Yeaaah, I used the Zelda MM one.
ОтветитьI remember there being, of all things, an Eminem-branded one of these around the time of his second album.
ОтветитьMan, I bet Bonzai Buddy would have loved that browser. He was such a good friend.
ОтветитьThat MediaBrowser logo punched me in the face with how 90s it is
ОтветитьI never used these myself but I somehow remember them now i've seen how they look again.
ОтветитьDo you plan to make another video about CavEX for the Wii one day? Not so long ago an update dropped and now you can actually play the game like a normal minecraft (instead of flying all the time). Although there are still some features missing, yet to be added by the creator.
ОтветитьThis type of wacky turn of the millennium software retrospective is why I like this channel.
ОтветитьIf i remember correctly VB5 had the ability to insert a browser into just about anything so it would have "super easy barley an inconvience" to make a themed browser once you had a proper project template made...
ОтветитьMan if I knew about these as a kid I would have been all over them. Very silly business model though. Who would have thought that advertising to kids (people with no money) might not work out in the end
ОтветитьI wonder if the Nintendo Power one would update, say, monthly to reflect the cover game, maybe Banjo Toowie was the "active" cover game at the time they froze for release?
ОтветитьLove the Protoweb project keeping the old internet alive!
ОтветитьLive your wall, in assuming there real floppy discs and not wallpaper
ОтветитьThis browser looks a lot like a skinned version of MSN Explorer (Microsoft's AOL competitor).
ОтветитьNintendo, as always, being REALLY FUCCKING WEIRD!
ОтветитьI have a question. Do you think you can install Windows Vista on the $5 Windows98 PC.But On Floppy drives
ОтветитьI wish Nintendo would make games on PC I hate Nintendo and the Switch but the games are decent just overpriced.
ОтветитьThey used Opera. Opera used to be good but these day its Chinese Malware and Spyware sadly.
ОтветитьI have those speakers! I favor those! Lolz
ОтветитьBest part of video… the laugh
ОтветитьSounds like the 'browsers' I made in VB6 when I was 13 - paste IE5 ActiveX object onto a form - add buttons for forward, back, home and refresh - job done :D
ОтветитьImagine reading the Vaporeon copy-pasta on the Pokémon Internet Browser
ОтветитьIn a way, Internet Explorer was Chromium before Chromium. xD
ОтветитьMan! I would have loved these browsers in the day but my family used Macs.
