what trim (brighter vs. darker) colors pair well with blank canvas? also looking for an accent wall , thinking rogue blue w/ blank canvas on other bedroom walls

White dove looks less warm and has a tendency to turn grey and dull under some lighting.
Blank Canvas is more grey-resistant if you know what i mean

So I have kids 2 under 5 and I’m considering doing white walls in our living room. I will not be doing matte as it’s not kid friendly. But I’m considering if eggshell will still look good? I’m considering Alabaster, Simply White and Accessible beige. Has anyone tried these?

Hi Valentina im a huge fan of all your videos I have a small half bathroom that Im doing half the walls in ship lap and repainting the remaining currently its BM iceberg a nice light color however I was looking for some more suggestions i love darker colors just afraid to commit i suppose the rest of the house is BM grey owl we have mostly neutrals throughout as we will most likely rent it out and want to appeal to the masses thanks in advance for any insight !

For those of us sold on blank canvas as primary white through house - what color do you suggest for ceilings? Same or different?

What colors wouldn’t want to look at if I live the undertones of Blank Canvas but want an LRV between 65-75? I have very little natural light and I’m worried about shadows ninths brighter colors but I’m craving white!!

I know I'm a little late, but I was wondering if it would be good to paint the ceiling blank canvas if I paint the walls blank canvas... Just not sure what to do with the ceilings! Love your videos, your upbeat attitude is so contagious! Thanks for another great video!

Super helpful video. After 8 months of analysis’ paralysis this helped me most likely settle on blank canvas + neutral pallet.. Really appreciate all your commentary about kinds and colors of furniture that can co-exist nicely.

Wonderful! Ive been looking at SW's Greek Villa (almost a perfect match to Blank Canvas). But want to thank you for the Shoji White suggestion - my other option - for my exterior. The front of the home faces southwest and I agree this is a better option for the sunny area it resides. Onward.....!

I need help with a stone wall that needs painting. My couch is taupe, floors are cream & taupe the stone wall is mixed browns looks dingy. How do I brighten the wall up? I thought white might be boring but my French doors are dark wood. Do you think beige or sandy color would look better?

I bought the Blank Canvas to paint my home, but I have a question, Should I paint the baseboard the same Blank Canvas? And also should I paint the ceiling the same Blank Canvas ? Or you should recommend me something else. Please let know your thoughts

Yeah - not a fan! White is the color of primer! Meh! I much much much prefer Benjamin Moore’s courageous choice for 2023. I also have a small home so white just makes it small. I know people assume white gives you the illusion of space, but in a small room- it does the opposite. Sorry - can’t enjoy your enthusiasm on this one!

If you look at the pigment levels that make up this color, it is nearly indistinguishable from Swiss coffee.

What size is too small to use a dark accent wall. I love the dark color you use in your home. I work at home and I have a small office. It is a black white scheme with black furniture. Right now the walls are a green color but I am going to paint them white to brighten the room. Could I do an accent wall or just use black and white framed art on the walls.

I can’t change my current kitchen cabinets. I have those flat panelled dark almost black laminate cabinets with a red undertone which I hate but it is what it is.

I've had several different shades of white swatches on my West facing, galley kitchen. Lots of shadows. Lots of yellow coming through on most of them. Polar Bear is winning so far, or Simply White. Blank Canvas looked too creamy yellow, next to them, and I see a lot of yellow on your canvas sample.

Luv, love white. We have painted our house only in white for years. Not really a trend person. Modern classics we like , my husband and I.

I'm a house flipper and am really getting into white and off whites right now. What do you think of Polar Bear? I am doing a master bedroom in a flip with Silver Drop on the walls and 4 foot beadboard paneling with Polar Bear on it for a two tone look.

I was originally considering First Star by SW, but now I like Blank Canvas better. You recommend using Blank Canvas matte finish for both the walls and trim, what about the ceiling?

In the beginning of 2020 we sold our first home after 16 years of living there .and then we build a new home,we at the time fine to have all the walls white,but over the past year I have really felt the urge to paint some rooms ,but at the same time I really do like the all white look…

We painted our house inside-out Benjamin Moore simply white when it was their color of the year. I love, love your charcoal walls and wondered about painting the outside of our house with it.....and paint an "accent wall" around the fireplace. My husband says no to charcoal outside as we live in an area known for its wineries (ag area) and he thinks charcoal will really show dirt certainly more than white. Your thoughts? 🥴

Still going with cobalt blue and cadmium yellow for my kitchen remodel.

This is so great! My house is 9 years old and our cabinets, trim, and most walls are white dove. I’m looking at repainting some rooms and I’m so happy white dove is still a good white.

I have a unique interior trim color... Jacobean (minwax) on knotty alder ( also some golden lake doors and door trim as I am in a mid 90s home). I am curious about paint colors. For example, redoing a bedroom , what type of dresser nightstand colors (wood or other & Painted or wood furniture)? Modern western rustic style.

Amen amen! I follow several designers and you ate the only one who embraces white. Years ago I found a book called "White on White" and I felt like I had come home. White is the secret sauce, in my design sensibility.

So master bedroom if I painted walls canvas white with a tad bit of eggshell, what bout trim, crown mold and even a tray ceiling, what accent would say? I used to use toasted or roasted almond by Sherwin Williams. Love chocolate but not solid on using black.

Just curious, do you have to wear a Depends when you do these segments? 👊😉 ? I jokingly call it "having a Chablis moment"! Backstory, I'm a designer too (as well as songwriter) and I have a dear friend and long time client who had a little Bichon named Chablis, may she RIP. Everytime I came over (tho it was probably ANYONE that came over!) she would get so excited, she'd run around in circles in a frenzied whirlwind, and then would squat and pee on the floor in her excitement! So when I would get excited over an idea, or a great "score" or the finished execution of a particular project and my enthusiasm bubbled over (tho I'm not a coffee drinker and mine is not QUITE as effusive as yours on the enthusiasm Richter scale...but close), I would call it "having a Chablis moment" and it could potentially result in an accident if not reined in a bit, if you get my drift! Sort of like the old spoof on SNL, I believe it was, back when it actually was funny, of Oprah's "You get a car, you get a car, you get a car" shows!!! And the audience members were having a meltdown, were peeing themselves, fainting, coming completely unwrapped🤪👍! It was hilarious!😂 Anyway, I just thought I'd throw that little Depends query and quip in for a laugh. It'd be hard to hide a Depends in those pleather pants!! But keep in mind as you get a little older and need a back up when the new colors (or anything for that matter, that triggers a Chablis moment) rolls around!! Can't always tell if it's the coffee or the colors that are the greater stimulus...or maybe both!
