It doesn't work at all! I tried to paste plastics and woods, by putting first super glue, then soda and again glue. It dropped after 2 minutes and left a lot of soda's clods, which now I have to additionally rip off.

I've seen nothing on these baking soda/superglue videos that shows or explains why the baking soda improves the bond over just using a ton of superglue. I did see a test between the baking soda combo and a graphite combo and the graphite was stronger, but nothing that tested baking soda versus multiple layers of superglue. Any thoughts on this?

There's a tiny crack in one of my pots if I use that technique on the inside when I boil water in it do you think it would still hold or would it melt a part eventually

Fixing a dollar store watering jug that been left out in the sun all summer it's only going to break somewhere else.. only third world people would ever have a reason to fix it ... if you have money for supper glue you can afford a new watering can

Super Glue by itself is okay, but nine times out of 10, especially if you're working with models, you want the super glue to dry now, and the best way to do that if you're not looking for smooth lines is to use baking soda.

The chemical reaction happens between the baking soda and the chemicals of the super glue and causes the super glue to harden very quickly, basically making the baking soda and activator, or a drying accelerant.

There are also accelerant sprays for super glue, but they tend to have a somewhat mildly oily residue until they dry, but nothing that can't be fixed with the napkin or paper towel, so if you're absolutely worried about hard edges as a result of baking soda and super glue, get the drying accelerant spray.

The normal color of the accelerant spray bottles tends to be either clear or brown.

Ethyl Cyanocrylate ... can be used to mount orchids to wood or clay as well. Gel is preferred over water.
