She was basically saying she was unprofessional and difficult to work with which she has been said to have a reputation of having although she's a good actress

Bette Davis had a problem with the Studios, but she was never unprofessional on set.
She respected the other people she worked with.

Bette was the ultimate pro she hated Crawford but always said she was the best. Saying try is about Faye tells you all you need to know

Bette was so sweet and funny in her last years. More humor and less acrimony than in, say, her 50's - even though she always said the same thing!😁❤

She did this on Johnny Carson, the BIGGEST show ever back then. That’s how much sway she had. She could go on Carson and badmouth whoever, and get away with it. What a woman!

Andrew Lloyd Webber fired Dunaway for this very reason. Marilyn Monroe did the same thing because she was very anxious. Dunaway was just a narcissistic a-hole.

Imagine if this was done in our current decade. Bette says this on Colbert or Jimmy Fallon. Faye Dunaway sees it and gets on Twitter/X and starts hurling abuse at Bette. A Twitter war begins. A bunch of fans chime in on either side. Meanwhile Faye's reputation grows and stops appearing in as many films. The public cancel her.

These women come from two very different periods in cinematic history. Bette began as an actor in the studio system…everything was very choreographed professionally and publicly. Because you were basically an employee of the studio…you did what your bosses told you. Davis is unique in her career…she was clever and managed to do quite a bit to make the best of being a contracted actor…until it was intolerable. I think Actors like Bette Davis helped bring that system down. I don’t think that Bette Davis was knowingly a method actor as Dunaway was. But she, on her own, implemented many skills attributed to Method. Method drove old school directors, older actors and producers nuts because the concern for the actor wasn’t to please anyone…it was to get it right and real. They worked to have agency over what they appeared in…and it’s strange that someone who butted heads with studio bosses and unsuccessfully tried suing them would, in the end, sort of champions a system that agitated her so much, with talk about professionalism, when she came up in a system that really wasn’t very professional. I think that Bette’s opinion was a generational thing. Two very different women and two very different approaches to creating a character. Oh…and she’s bipolar. Favorite performance…Barfly.

Funnily enough, the one person Faye seems to have really gotten on with was Raquel Welch on 'The Three Musketeers " (1973), herself known for being difficult on set. Evidently, diva spotted diva and knew when to relent.
