I’ve always thought Rheinmetall is a really badass name for a defense heavy industry company. As in make it “rain metal” over your enemies 😬

well I hope its not to overengineered that the people using it needs 3 years of training to actually use it. There is always the problem with new technology being awesome on the paper, while in reality is just to complicated to use on the go, which needs alot of training and time to learn. For example I just bought a VR Headset, while easy to use its harder than I thought to master it, I keep on dropping stuff because I am not used to grab stuff actively in video games. Its a nice feature that needs depending on the person alot of training.
But its still great seeing development of new Battle Tanks. Because yes we still need them even though its easier to use drones these days.

Careful, make no claims that this will be a real addition to the German army. It was JUST a technology demonstrator on the EuroSatori. It hasn't even been given the go-ahead for testing by the Bundeswehr yet, much less funding.
Next, this is what it is supposed to do. How it will actually fare in combat, either simulated or real, has to be seen. Every new development has its birthing problems; so will this project.
Note: I am not claiming that this is a failure. I am simply saying to curb the expecations. History has shown that even very promising projects have been cut due to funding or intrinsic problems.
Let's wait and see.
However, I would support Rheinmetall's plans to build a factory for these tanks in the Ukraine. That would probably be the best real life advertisement the company could have should the product hold what all the reports promise it should be able to do.

The Ketten 51 is a Great Tank. Thed 51 along with the US M1-A3 and British Challenger 2 would incinerate anything Russia Puts in the Field. Since Desert Storm, ALL WESTERN TANKS to speak of have been Up-Graded - Modernized to M1-A1/A2 Abrams and Beyond. Russian T-62, 72, 80 & 90 were all destroyed by Ukrainians. Is Boris's T-14 just a futile attempt to recover from embarrassment? OR should we be saying, I wonder what they 'Pilfered' from Western Tech Now?

What's transformative here is the drone operator position coupled with the speed and all terrain nature of the platform.

The logical extension of these capabilities is to lose the turret and shift the vehicle to an armored self propelled artillery system, without losing speed or all-terrain capability. The mass-savings of losing the turret would be made up with a longer range gun, and an expanded drone bay capable of launching multiple drones and landing them. The result would be a hyper agile artillery system
that carries along its own artilery spotters in the form of drones dynamically launched and retrieved in situ. It wouldn't need the turret because it would be designed to operated at longer ranges from the enemy in a chaotic battlefield without fixed lines. The mission profile would be a mechanized-cavalry-gun that can sprint behind enemy positions to engage their rear supply areas at range and then retreat faster than any responses. If it did find itself in close quarter combat with enemy forces it would rely upon the heavier machine gun and smart munitions, analogous to the switchblade drone, launched from the main gun that could target opponents despite the fact that they were not launched in the correct direction from the turret-less gun.

2x drones ($5,000) attacking at the same time will defeat ANY tank, including this one. Tanks are a relic of a different era of warfare, with Javelins and Drones taking over the modern battlefield. Its a beautiful horse & buggy in the automobile era...

"Brutal Beast"..... Uhm....Maybe. We don't know yet. Time will tell.
My personal opinion is, that 'the tank' in general, is not obsolete yet. But i also think that once this new design has been worked out to a full blown fighting machine, it will certainly have a future. I hope so.
