Matt you use all the same nonsense arguments that other people who have never read a single Superman story or comic run parrot. Just go read some and you will realize how ill informed your opinion is.

Superman is not from Earth, attributing Human motives and beliefs is a mistake. The best problems for Superman are non human. Superman never claimed he is a Prophet.

Matt I don't think you've read enough comics. Maybe just read one and watch the films both live and animated, still you haven't truly dived into the character to talk about this fully. At the end you unfortunately you sounded like our good friend Abe Simpson aka Martin Scorsese when talking about how the characters need to go away. I don't think nor feel they do. They need stories that push the boundaries of where they can go. They need a Logan, an Oldboy, a Loki series. I do I agree with the gatekeeping that die hard Superman fans have. He needs to be challenged and taken out of his comfort zone. For his sake and the audiences as well. DC, Marvel, Dynamite, Dark Horse and the like need to be ran like Manga. One creator, one vison. As well as take some points from the animatied series but not simply do animation only. The characters are never going to stop crime. Neither are we in real life. There is too much bullshit such as small stores stealing from bigger ones homeless talking from stores, layoffs, not makeing enough at the job you're at to where you have to get another an just work-work-work-work. Places, jobs and schools getting shot up, and mental health especially in men being fucked and no one especially women helping. I was always told if women ran shit it would all be alright well as of late women are making more and getting more opportunities and we men are suffering and no cares. I digress. We all know those heroes are not going to stop crime entirely but we're not going to stop it here either. These heroes will keep trying and so will we. Until they can't anymore or die trying. A story of a hero that keeps going despite know the score is still a good story and a story that people want to read or watch. It like Superman needs to be interesting. Needs to take to not go left or right but say fuck it and go some where else entirely. Similar to the ending in Terrifer 2.The characters don't need to go away besides if not for Comic Book films, Horror and Tom Cruise that make a shit ton of money, well what would we watch on terms of entertainment but story telling that truly takes you places. What will we have to watch that sad more than low budget indy film that won't make it's money or that fillm by that old film maker whose mad because he is not as good as he used to be yet will use technology that was used first in the same comic book film that he now thinks is amusement park? No I don't think we will.

As a teen during the 80's, I read mostly Marvel's first run of Star Wars. I tried reading both, Marvel and DC, superhero comics. Just couldn't get into them. Superman was the one I tried to read the most, mainly because I tried to understand what it was about him that ever comic reader loved. One person said that Superman was the ideal that everyone looked up to. I found that a problem. The characters I enjoy are Indiana Jones, Doctor Who,and the like.
After Marvel's run for the Star Wars comic ended in 86, I could not find other comic that interested me. I was in a comic shop(picking the last Star Wars issue)and was talking to the owner,and I told him my problem,and he pointed me to manga. Been a lifelong fan of both Manga and Anime.

I wonder if Matt has read or played any of the Injustice games and comics? Because they show how Superman did just that, but became a paranoid and ruthless tyrant because of it. And he also was at the top of a totalitarian authoritarian global regime as well.

Also, Matt forgot another of Superman's weaknesses: Red Giant stars/suns can substantially weaken him as well. And also, shut him away from the sun long enough, and he will also weaken as well.
