You got to allow that a lot of bulbs are not easy replaced, some require removing the bumper etc
Ответитьjust put projectors and xenons from the higher end trim gli in my jetta. the thing with leds and hids is that you need projectors to focus the beam correctly. reflector housings arent precise enough to cut the light off from going further up than the cutoff line. i wouldnt use leds period unless your car was specifically made for them. leds tend to produce uneven beam in both reflectors and projectors due to the light only coming from 2 sides instead of 360 degrees like a halogen or xenon bulb.
ОтветитьI hate new led light on cars! I flash my lights thinking someone has there high beams on and there not 😂!
ОтветитьWrong
ОтветитьI like the trucks who have the big rectangle lights on the front which blind you even in the day time.
ОтветитьI had LED’s in my h3 hummer, I changed them back to halogen because they interfered with the radio. The previous owner either didn’t spend enough to get a decent set, or he forgot to put the radio choke on it.
ОтветитьThe moral of the story is that HID/LED bulbs are problematic in reflector style headlight assemblies. They are fine in projector headlights because they do a better job of controlling the beam and keeping the light on the road instead of in other drivers' faces.
ОтветитьI use the off with deet and it makes the plastic so clear takes off the yellowing
ОтветитьWhat's a car inspection 😂 never had to do one in my life. But I live in a rural area.
ОтветитьWhy don't we mandate a color nearly the same as halogen headlights? (halogen color is not blinding) halogen color is not as popular or a little more expensive to produce are the only reasons why LEDs are blinding.
ОтветитьI bought a new headlights assembly, 4 trips to 2 different auto shops and still dim.
Ответить👍👍😎😁
ОтветитьDamn jeeps are too freaking bright!
ОтветитьScotty, I wish you were my neighbor, ... we would have so much fun working on my cars, ...
Ответитьprojector . . . go as bright as you want; no projector . . . stay stock
ОтветитьI saw a video that showed the proper way to install HID lights, which included installing a projector, which would project the light properly, especially if the height of the projectors was adjusted properly. Those old Celica lights almost certainly have no projectors, so the light from the zenon bulbs go all over the place, blinding people.
ОтветитьI got sea light leds on my 07 pontiac g6 they have the resister an are way brighter than my halogens so I definitely recommend them
ОтветитьI have a top spec Lexus IS250 with factory HID bulbs but, they come with the adaptive lighting so they don't blind anyone.
ОтветитьThanks Scotty I was always confused until now❤
ОтветитьI'm just seeing this now & have been searching for what you said would be better than the cheap Chinese ones w/no resistors in my car. In the meantime I'm just going to go back to the stock halogens.
ОтветитьI am thinking of reserving the new MG4 EV. Lower models have Projector headlights while the top trim has Projector LED Headlights with reflective technology..is it worth the difference in real world driving? Can anyone explain the difference between the 2 please. Much appreciated.
ОтветитьI don't have 53 years of car experience. However, I have 18 years experience with a Toyota Avalon and make these observations:
1. No matter what you do the plastic headlight lenses will deteriorate.
2. I could not find a replacement headlight assembly that offered a glass lens.
3. Supposed fixes like toothpaste, coca cola and lens polishes don't work - or you have to keep re-applying constantly, particularly when your car is parked outside.
4. Sanding a plastic lens does not work.
5. If you replace the standard OEM bulb with perhaps Xenon, it will be a temporary fix for years. I did that.
6. Today, I installed replacement headlights with xenon bulbs. I have a very expensive lens polish approved by Scotty coming by mail. I have calendared to polish the new lenses every three months. My car will now outlive me.
I will now address the glass windshield and my plans.
1. If you wash the windshield, clean with isopropyl and then use an extremely fine grit sandpaper once a year, it helps. Then you put on NuFinish once a year.
2. Eventually, the fine pitting will become too much to handle. At that point, you replace the glass. Be careful to get OEM equivalent glass. You don't have to get OEM glass which is expensive. If you don't specify, you will probably get cheap PRC glass that will unacceptable 3 -5 years later.
Yeah, I am one of those old guys who takes care of his car. In my family there were 3 other Avalons of the same model which each lasted more than 225,000 miles.
That’s why you put HID in projector housings
ОтветитьI paid like $70 for a set of 4. Is that bad?
ОтветитьWhat about Xenon?
ОтветитьToothpaste doesn't work.
ОтветитьWell, if you blind somebody with the low beams it means that you have them way too high and need to lower them
ОтветитьThis is HIGHLY illegal to do. this is a stupid law, But you can only use halogen headlights unfortunately, And the only colors you can use are amber and yellowish-white.
ОтветитьI brought the correct H4 Led Headlight bulbs as the CSP very small Chips Line Up Exactly Perfectly With The Halogen Bulb Filaments Both on High Beam & Low Beam & my H4 Led Headlight bulbs sit a 3 0clock & 9 0clock & not that the Led CSP Chips fit further inside of the Led Headlight bulbs & my lights are very Bright what Lights & on low the light Beams do not interfere with other Drivers on the road or roads Kind Regards Peter PS that's why I have good H4 Led Headlight bulbs have very small Chips because everything lines up Exactly Perfectly with the Halogen bulb Filaments
ОтветитьYou're taking all the fun out of the 19 year olds running LED bulbs that blind oncoming drivers, sometimes even on low beam.
ОтветитьThe main issue with people changing from halogen to hid or led is they are putting new bulbs in a headlight assembly Not design for the new bulbs.
For example, putting a LED bulb in a standard headlight assembly. Only the projector style housing is suitable But even then you may still have problems if the new bulbs not in the same exact alinement as the factory one.
I love living in Houston and hearing such familiar wildlife in your video
ОтветитьThe dot should endeavor to find out how many road rage incidents were initiated or aggravated by the new bright headlights
Ответить"....& breake they do!"
ОтветитьYou don’t need high beams where I live but everyone loves to blind one another.
ОтветитьInteresting how the first three cars he showed all had halogen lights, but each one was brighter than the last, proving that headlights did get brighter as time went on even before this HID LED thing,
ОтветитьThey're blinding because people install them in reflector housings. I guess even Scotty Kilmer doesn't know everything. Advising people to upgrade to LEDs if they just "buy the good ones" is dumb. If you have a reflector housing it will scatter the light and you won't have a proper cutoff. Those housings are designed for halogen bulbs. If you run HIDs or LEDs you need projector housings. They will maintain a proper cutoff when adjusted properly.
ОтветитьThe problem with halogen is that if you handle the glass, and install it, once the bulb is turned on, it can blow fast.
ОтветитьI come here before I do anything with or to my car (2001 A3 8L 1.8T)
ОтветитьI put my stock bulbs in when I go for inspection. My normal bulbs are 45,000 lumin sea lights. In my ford ranger
And 50,000 lumin in my Subaru outback.
I can park at one end of my yard which is 150 yards long and see deer and moose clear as day from my vehicle.
THE CAT!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
ОтветитьYou are a huge mistake. SCOTTY
ОтветитьWhat gas mileage laws is he talking about? You guys get 25mpg at best where most cars in the UK easily do 35-45mpg, my car does 62mpg on average!! And it’s a high performance diesel BMW 🤣
ОтветитьI'm surprised you did not mention headlight projector lenses. It is safe, and non-annoying to put HIDs in projector housings. If you aim them level, the beams are lower than the oncoming driver's head. HID's start off cool and warm up to get brighter, while LEDs start off cool and warm up to be dimmer. The quality of the LED headlight can be judged and summed up in these words: "the quality of the heat sink and fan on the back". If the electronics do not stay cool on LEDs, they simply get dimmer as the electronics in it get hotter. It's the negative temperature coefficient relationship between temperature and electrical flow. The hotter it gets; the fewer the electrons flow (or the more resistance to current flow). As temperature goes up, so does resistance to current flow. So, you end up with nice bright LEDs in winter and dimmer ones if the nighttime weather is still hot. HIDs do not suffer in this manner.
Lastly, in Texas it is technically illegal to use HID headlights in non-projector headlight housings, because the beam is not controllable and it will cause temporary blindness in everyone in front of it. For best results, use HIDs for low beams, and use halogen or high quality, expensive LEDs with huge heat sinks and fans for high beams.
brighter lights makes people driver faster i would abolish them or put black tape over the top of the headlight
ОтветитьI'm just wondering how long the LED Headlights will last
ОтветитьLol 275 dollars for one stinkin bulb scotty a comedian 😂
ОтветитьFirst I want to say thank you for all the knowledge you given me ! I have a 2000 Lexus 300 rx I want to replace my head lights with the blue head lights would that be safe
Ответить
