I'm half Filipino and half Mexican, and I always found it amazing how much another country can affect another's culture and language. A lot of people find it fascinating and confusing at the same time how Filipinos look Asian, but have Spanish first and/or last names. A lot of people sometimes don't know that the Spaniards took over the Philippines for 300 years and that's why we have Spanish influence in our culture. To see Dutch influence on Indonesian culture is just wow!

This Dutch guy speaks northern accent so he has the hard G and R. But in the south we speak more soft and sounds more similar like the Indonesian words.

For me this looks kinda cringe.
They sit in a room, really close to each other and they have to pronounce words to each other.
Do it in call it looks much more better and more professional

I think Indonesian borrows a lot of the nouns from Dutch, which back in the days, those products were not existed, such as bucket (emmer), refrigerator (kulkas), zipper (ritsleting). Those are products from industrial era, but I think most of the verbs and subject were all from local language like Malays.

I used to live in Zimbabwe and when I went to Bali, I saw that a banana was a pisang: same as in Afrikaans. I have a Dutch friend here in Australia and we were in Bali together. I pointed to a fruit stall and drew his attention to the pisang sign, telling him that it was the same as Dutch. I’d assumed that the word was Dutch and was a loan word taken into Bahasa Indonesia. Incorrect. The Dutch word for banana is banaan. The Afrikaans word is loaned from Malay, as there were many Malays working on the plantations in South Africa back in the day. I thought this was interesting. 😊

As a Filipino American somewhat travelled, I think the Malayan g pronunciation is softer. The European g may be a guttural sound in some Continental Cultures, Netherlands, German, French, Belgian, Nordic languages

In Flemish (Belgian Dutch) the word schep can also be schop and in dialect skop so basically very similar to sekop. The e is slightly there even in our version.
