I call it, "don't brace for the pop".
Most people jerk the trigger when Anticipating the pop (round going off).
When they anticipate the pop, their grip on the pistol tightens slightly while jerking the trigger.

I hate that. Have small hands. My pinky doesn’t go under as the last finger. I actually place my putter pinky between my other pinky and ring finger, not at the bottom of the grip

Went to the range friday and tried this. Helped my accuracy and grouping quite a bit. You have to try different methods to find what works for you. This definitely helped. Thanks

I agree 100. if you put all focus on your grip and nothing about anticipation you may notice you are not even worrying about anticipation preoccupying your mind. works for me. if I talk while I shoot works also. I am preoccupied.

My god this made me feel like a newbie. I’ve shooting for years with all the bad habits you mentioned. 4 years in the marine corps and no one ever corrected me. My dad being on a swat team but never corrected me. Probably because we were all taught to train out anticipation. Thank you for making this video. I’ll be applying this stuff today at the range.

This advice is golden. I can't tell you how many trainers I've heard talk about anticipation and none have ever addressed the fact that it's a natural thing your body just does. Proper grip and weapon system control is key. I learned a lot from this video.

Rick. My man. I am not sure if you'll get to read this, but THANK YOU. I've been struggling for years with mastering pistol shooting and this video literally changed the way I shoot. I went from being concerned I was never going to be 'good', to nailing quarter sized bullseyes at 7-10 yards and stacking rounds one on top of the other. Quite a few times I thought I'd missed because I was shooting through the same hole. I cannot thank you enough, and I encourage everyone to revisit this video if they require grip alteration.

Interesting with the index finger pointed to wrist is how I shake hands and teach kids to do it that way. Its because you can not get your hand squeezed in most instances

Thanks. I used this video along with dry firing and this year qualifications I scored a 98% would have been a hundred but my first 2shots from the 25yrd line were off. Not good from that distance. What I really got from this video is not extending all the way out but not locking out my elbows my shoulders are not shaking from fatigue
