Please, give a big like for these pilots, all the Atlanta controllers (I'm sure Ground, other Tower, Approach and Departure controllers also worked together to clear the airspace for Brickyard) and all the pilots who waited patiently. Aviation is awesome! Great job, guys!!
ОтветитьWhen such a situation happens why not lock out all auto functions ?
ОтветитьHero pilot's just awesome
ОтветитьThe ATC was absolutely incredible. Some really tough decisions about managing the amount and type of communications he was having in every direction. I loved that as soon as he heard them struggling to keep control he immediately stopped talking directly to them and started moving others around.
ОтветитьLucky to be alive.
ОтветитьThe fact that they said they had runaway trim and atc keeps instructing them to change altitude and puts even more pressure on them doesn't make any sense
ОтветитьThe controller clearly does not understand the critical situation here.
ОтветитьDon't call me anymore fire chief is Savage 🙆
ОтветитьGreat job, by all involved.
ОтветитьIt's crazy to think this was caused by the captain's trim switch being reinstalled upside down. Trimming is second nature for us pilots so I don't blame him for not realizing that was the cause
ОтветитьAs a pilot, that's when you realize you might want to hit the gym more often...
Ответить@MentourPilot did an AMAZING video on this. Highly recommend checking it out.
ОтветитьLove the other pilots commending the brickyard pilots after landing. Definitely sounded like a scary situation for a pilot, and they fought well to get control back.
ОтветитьNice to hear all the different people saying "nice job" at the end.
ОтветитьMentur pilot has made an amazing episode for this incident
ОтветитьMentour Pilot has just analyzed this one. There were some wiring issues, leading to an intermittent fault message that also popped up on the leg coming into Atlanta. In Atlanta, maintenance looked at it, was told to leave it till later, was not able to fit an INOP sticker or disable the switch and they unfortunately installed the Captain's trim switch reversed. Captain and FO were "fighting with the plane" using their knees to push the yoke down. FO side was working fine. You can can see that when the captain took the controls again, ATC noticed that the plane was climbing again, so FO had to keep flying.
ОтветитьThe mentor video on this event is excellent if you find this comment, look it up
ОтветитьYou can hear the alarms going off in the background!!! FRIGHTENING! AND PILOT SAID THEY’RE STALLING AND HEARING THEIR SIGH! YOU CAN HEAR THE STRESS IN THEIR VOICES!
ОтветитьThe trim switch was installed upside down on the captain's yoke. No joke, that's the reason for the incident.
ОтветитьThat ahs to be crazy for the controller. most emergencies those planes still fly where the pilots want to go.
Ответитьcame here after watching mentour's video on this incident.. the trim switch is attached up side down on the captain's side...
ОтветитьIn case anyone was wondering what happened, Mentor Pilot just released a great video on this flight!
Ответитьoh run*a*way not trim runway
ОтветитьThe graphics of the flight do not natch the transmission.
ОтветитьI was sitting at my desk clapping that everyone made it safely on the ground. When they were in that stall, you could hear the stress in the pilot's voice. Just wow!! Great flight crew
ОтветитьI love how the pilot or copilot got kinda zesty with the controller when they replied “we’re trying to descend sir.” I would also be annoyed if a controller kept asking questions while a real serious emergency was in my hands. Just like the golden rule in aviation first aviate, navigate and communicate.
ОтветитьThat traffic controller was a pro
ОтветитьIs it just me or do literally no ATC dudes understand how to speak shortly and urgently to pilots in extreme stress… like they often have this weird tone with planes having emergencies. Obviously not every video. But it’s a lot.
ОтветитьThat was a high pucker factor situation. Nice job!
Ответить"Fire Chief standby" had been nicer 😆
Glad they touched down save 👏
It's funny how ATC always nags the pilots when they're annoyed trying to focus on flying the plane, then acts like complete assholes to anyone else annoying them. Taste of their own medicine.
ОтветитьThose pax were so blessed to have the right crew in the cockpit that day. During one of the scariest, if not the scariest possible issues at low altitude, these guys handled the situation flawlessly and professionally. There’s numerous examples in history of this exact scenario happening and hundreds of dead people because crews panicked, thought they knew better than policy and checklists, and in turn made bad decisions that in many cases cost them their lives.
This one couldn’t have been any farther from that.
Those guys should be very proud of themselves and I hope their airline doesn’t let this go without recognition for what they did that day. I’d be honored to fly with them any day of the week 👍🏽
Amazing job
ОтветитьFlying in direct control means they essentially turned off the flight control computers and are flying by hand.
That’s the same an turning the “Cobra” switch on in a Sukhoi Flanker.
Thank god delta was there to save the day and make sure they ran the QRH. Delta pilots truly are gods walking amongst men
ОтветитьExcellent work all round. Yikes.
ОтветитьThis has to be one of the scariest videos you’ve made. Holy climb!
ОтветитьFound out today this captain is my pilot here at B6. Been flying with him for 2 days.
Ответитьi wanted to side with ATC but he should have said "do a left 360 and come around to 270. i really think he was in the weeds
ОтветитьIf you would like to know more on why you roll the plane or on stabilizer runaway, check a couple videos by Warren Vanderburgh entitled “Unusual Aircraft Attitude Recovery Procedures” and “Control Malfunctions & Flight Instrument Anomalies”.
Ответить"suffering trim runaway" is a pretty accurate description of my dating life
ОтветитьWas the fire chief out of line in some manner?
Ответитьjust pull the power and flat spin it down!!
ОтветитьThanks Vic..well done by controller n pilots
Ответить"Brickyard 4439 do you require further assistance?"
"Yes sir, can you have the fire chief meet us at the gate with an extra pair of shorts"
Damn good flying guys
