HI, I have a issue with a Xeon X5460 i just installed on older ASUS P5QL SE MB which has quads in its specifications so can handle 4 cores. Windows 7 installed, socket 775 Put a modified Xeon in and its stable and working ok at about the same speed as my old core 2 Duo but CPU-Z ect is only showing 2 cores and 2 threads?. I went into Msconfig and advanced/boot and only 1,2 cores are there to change; shouldnt 1-4 be available? I have original BIOS and also if this makes a diff the bios is set to IDE not ACHI but i tried changing it to ACHI and it wouldnt boot so put it back to IDE and its fine and working. Would that setting need to be changed or is it only for security ect eventhough ACHI is more up to date?. would i have to have loaded windows fresh set to Achi to use ACHI? and do i need to worry as the computer is Win 7 anyway? So do the settings in BIOS make any diff to 4 cores being seen? Thanks for any assistance you can give

I went for the x5470 at 3.91 and works great and memory got 800 mhz for that helpful 10x multiplier (less RAM overclock needed)

This is really late but, is there a big difference between x5450 and e5450? Seeing your results in Fortnite got me really wondering what the issue is with the system I built. CPU usage is always at 100%, has stutters, and structures won't load properly.

Here's my specs. Hopefully you or anybody will be able to help me out. Really much appreciated:

You can fix the temp issues with moded xenons using afterburner by editing the INF file and changing the TJ Max number to 85 or whatever the correct thermal junction Max is for your CPU

I have a couple of engineering samples of the E5440 (S-spec Q3HE). I overclocked it to 4 GHz on an Intel air cooler! It's pretty good for a pre-production stepping.

Want to upgrade a old dell optiplex with a x5460, can I overclock it with such a oem motherboard?

Thanks for the video I upgraded from a GTX 1050 to the RX 570 on my Xeon e5450 it made a huge difference by lowering CPU usage from 100% to 75%-80% almost 50/50 CPU-GPU in fortnite with 1080p epic settings medium shadows vsync on runs a solid 75 FPS lows in the 60s highs in the 80s I have the doom trial off steam runs good DX12 but can't get Vulcan to work any suggestions? Also runs Microsoft's trial version of Forza at 60fps without input lag using vsync and setting my monitor to 60 HZ definitely a CPU bottleneck in this game

If anyone is interested the Xeon X3360 is a factory 775 socket cpu i use one in one of my daily gaming rigs.

I have a Sun Ultra 24 that came with a dual core duo, but the spec allowed for a Q9650 on the same motherboard. Going to try with one of these Xeon’s see if I can make it work!

in my place. the e5450 is more expensive (like $22). i found l5420 (at below $10) and not l5430, so it runs at 2.5ghz. but it can be overclock easily

I tried L5430 processor. Windows 10 64 bit won't even install. Upgrading from Windows 7 won't work either.

Hey can you tell us what AliExpress board you ordered. I don't want to end up with one that supports a single core chip only and it's hard to find out what chipset comes on these boards. I love the e5450 and x5450... Great price, great performance per dollar and paired with a GTX 950, 1050, rx 550 or a 560 and you have a decent budget system.

Those games used AVX and the 771 Xeons do not have it so they default to the newest streaming vector extension instruction set it has which I think in this case is SSE, and that would explain the GPU and CPU having headroom and performance not being what it should, as neither was being used to it's fullest extent. I think 🤔

i just wanted to point out that there are indeed actual socket 775 xeon cpus that exist too, they just are rare. ones that aren't 771 and don't require the cpu mod to convert them to 775. the xeon x3360 for example, is a xeon, is socket 775, not 771, and essentially is a q9550 exactly. in fact, their equivalence with core 2 quads/duos is similar to the 771 ones, just a different line, and actual socket 775.

Had a x5460 with Evga 780i SLI chipset and run into same issues with low gpu and cpu usage. Did you ever find out whats was the issue for such low cpu and gpu usage?
