Mafia 3 Review Should You Buy in 2022

No if you are thinking abt buying it just don't it is a waste of time, i fucked up and wasted my time, don't waste yours.

I don't like the gameplay and driving of this game is like Driver 4

This was one of the most boring experiences of my life. The main missions are awesome, but the never ending secondary missions that YOU MUST finish to unlock the next campaign mission, its torture, you have to do like 40 times each of the four repetitive secondary missions.

After playing Starfield I'm surprised that this game looks better in a lot of ways lmao

I actually loved the game. Mafia 2 is the best. The story and cinematography was top tier

I think Mafia 3 is one of the most over hated games I’ve ever seen!!! I think it’s because of its shitty release and the fact that 2K is a crap fest company. But other than that I genuinely think this game is a solid 9/10 for me. I mean remember when cyberpunk first released ? Well in my opinion this game is like Cyberpunk… shitty release but over time it’s become a wonderful experience. I semi-disagree about the repetitive gameplay part because of the DLC missions and some of the Kill list missions after you clean out an areas rackets are really interesting and cool to play. My favorites were the River boat mission and the Party mission. I liked how the river boat had a sht ton of enemies and was crumbling all around you. I also loved the Party mission because of the LSD poisoning part and the section where you have to kill the enemies in the backyard area. I also believe that if you get bored doing the racket missions you should try some of the DLCs. I think they provide some really entertaining gameplay that gets you motivated to continue the game because of the new gameplay it introduces to you. But yeah I don’t wanna ramble anymore. My point still stands that people who played this game back in 2016 need to give it another try.

Open world games have not progressed like they should or even close. This game gets the bare minimum correct which is the world, story and atmosphere and basic gun play. But it does nothing beyond that. Been playing these games too long where I don't really buy the fluff reviews. This game does the base things correct moreso than most other games but 2k has always had a good base. It's the same IP they have been making for years though. From a development standpoint gaming is disapointing.

The story really carries these games. The entire trilogy is like a movie trilogy that you watch again every few years because it's so good.

I will say… my grandparents would be jokingly offended if they found out that the music they listen to on the radio now is being used in period-games like these.

The game is capped at 60fps, even though you have a setting for 'uncapped'. Also, in the beginning, it cuts your gameplay every few minutes for some interviews. Loved mafia ll, didn't like this one. Stutters a lot.

The standout here were the voice performances and motion capture, particularly for the main character Lincoln (wish that voice actor did more work). The world building is top-shelf, with incredible attention to detail, and hardly any noticeable asset re-use / copy paste. Combat feels good, but it is, as you said, quite repetitive after about 20 hours in. A very good addition to the Mafia series, and I am a little surprised it hasn't been reviewed more positively. It gave me a real sense of what it might have been like to black in the late 60s US; rather repulsive.

They could of made the game more fun to play if they had more time on their hands i think. I guess they were prrssured to get the game ready in time for the release of the remaster of Mafia 1 and 2

Better than GTA! Just doesn’t have the popular name which is the only reason GTA sells so well. All GTA games are bland!

I'm a bit late to the game but so far I love it. Car mod's are so cool and the gun fights are so much fun. Great game I don't worry about the graphic's as long as the story is decent.

I feel like the games major flaws (repititive open world missions, and other open world stuff) are a result of the time the game came out, where open world games are the hot new thing... Not to mention the rush and deadlines

I remember playing mafia 3 when it became free through ps plus and I gotta say the game on one hand had tons of bugs on release date, side missions were repetitive but the story and soundtrack are amazing the 60s vibe is definitely a great experience, all in all with the recent definite edition I think it's worth it

I had no idea Mafia 3 has a graphical upgrade. Is it more or less glitchley than Mafia 2's upgrade?

The 3 Dlc's mafia 3 got that you can play when playing the main campaign fill the game out nicely and help the middle part of the main game campaign on some much needed content and help breek up the mid game loop

I hope mafia makes an online game to co op, a new version 20’s and 30’s like mafia 2 online

Wait there are people who didn’t like this game? I loved this game and always wanted another one to come out with it set in Vegas or LA, build up the town from nothing to something. Idk I hate that we didn’t get a fourth

One thing that kinda annoyed me and took some time getting used too, was driving. I’d always mash the R2 button down and spin out or crash into something. It took a minute for me to get used to it, but it did make driving feel super realistic.

Well said bruh..the absent of bikes and motorcycles was a huge letdown for a open world gta game..am sure there were bikes in the 60s..this is why I did not buy this game..but the gameplay, physics and the plot is much better than gta5

If you’ve ever been to New Orleans the game is pretty accurate

It does get very foggy and the weather here is totally unpredictable

As I was playing this I kept thinking over and over how great it could’ve been if they spent an extra few months to polish the game. It’s a shame that a game with a great story and writing was held back by gameplay that was a little too shallow and rough around the edges

I love the cinematography, scenery, use of music, and story so much. It can get kind of repetitive but the gameplay is only really a complement to the story being told. Also the dlcs are absolutely amazing.
