Jay Leno is my favorite kind of car enthusiast. Don’t get me wrong, I love performance builds and all original. But taking something and just making it better than new, fixing whatever flaws every car has. Or making it just a little more powerful, better suited for you. This is my ideal treatment for cars.
ОтветитьI wonder how long it will be before California runs Jay out of the state as well with their ever draconian vehicle laws.... soon even collector cars will be banned. 😢
Ответитьim 76 now Jay l to am a veteran l still ride Harleys,,,,when l get to 95 l will give you the Harley its a 2023 Fat Boy custom..
ОтветитьLove these types of episodes
ОтветитьThem bench seats how did you adjust the drivers seat
Ответить1957 Cadillac a good year
ОтветитьLove Jay's videos with his own cars, especially my favourite Cadillac.
ОтветитьThe logo on the tail fins looks almost identical to the logo today. I like that look. The logos used from the mid 60s to the early 2000s seemed overdone and busy, especially the ones with the laurel leaves.
ОтветитьThe bit with all the ashtrays for each person always gets me 🤣 beautiful car one of my favorite years that and the 61
ОтветитьDid he just say weight distribution on a Cadillac?
ОтветитьHadir dari Indonesia
ОтветитьJay got this car for free. I would hope that the war hero, living in a trailer park was given something, even though he might have protested.
Ответить"The red car and the blue car had a race"
ОтветитьReally surprised to see Nexen tires on that beautiful car
ОтветитьIt's honestly a piece of art. There definitely aren't many here in Australia but I saw a very similar one the other day!
ОтветитьBeautiful job on the restoration.
ОтветитьEveryone loves that car. It's no wonder Cadillac was king in the 50s.
Thanks for saving another 1J for future generations.😊
That was a beautiful car, thanks for sharing it!
ОтветитьWhy didn’t you take it three weeks ago !?!! LOL.
ОтветитьLove it! Thank you for the full story on this car, Jay. It's a real keeper.
ОтветитьJay, it appears that you have a new brake booster, it looks great. I’d love to get one for my 1958 Cadillac.
ОтветитьWhat a shame he didn't have the correct size white walls on it. I'm surprised! Wide white walls too expensive for you Jay? LOL
ОтветитьIt is a beauty! I'd be proud to drive it, especially after I put the right-sized white walls on it, LOL.
ОтветитьVery enjoyable to watch.
ОтветитьThat steering wheel belongs in a Mack truck. Its huge!
ОтветитьThat thing is sharp. I like it Alot
ОтветитьMy Grandparents on Mom's side had a Sedan De Ville from this year.....beautiful car!
ОтветитьI had the pleasure of meeting Jay, many years ago.
I had just finihed restoring a 69 El Camino, California edition.
Chevy did'nt make many of them.
Just a Malibu with some minor appearance goodies.
He came up to me, and asked a lot of questions about it.
We talked for a half hour or so.
This guy is so genuine, and curious about...any car, no matter what it is.
Great guy, and a virtual encyclopedia of car knowledge.
Thanks, Jay!!
It's called an automatic dimmer.. dad had a '54 coupe deville with it!
ОтветитьThat car was made the year I was born. It is a work of art. Absolutely beautiful.
ОтветитьThanks, Jay. In the early 70s I got my Mother's 57 Cadillac Fleetwood in high school. What a land yacht! The trunk could hold 6 bodies (estimate, not tested). The interior was like a living room. My heart flutters every time I see one.
ОтветитьJust a BEAUTIFUL car!❤👍
ОтветитьStunning! I'm sure you're dad was very proud of his Caddy
Ответитьreally nicely done. A great color that fits that car well.
ОтветитьThe autronic eye lowered the highbeams..
ОтветитьMy parents bought a 57 Caddy coup de vill off his cousin in 66/67 for $50 because the driver side rear fin had been cut off because of a wreck. They drove it till 69 when on Halloween night I destroyed the transmission out hotrodding. Oops. I’ve always wanted one sense, but never got one because like your mother, my wife was not a Cadillac person. Even if it was 50 years old.
ОтветитьJay always seems like ta good guy. Happy to see he loves and can afford his hobby.
ОтветитьYou know Jay you have a serious hoarding problem
ОтветитьIn the early 80’s, two buddies and I made an epic road trip in a 57 Cadillac 60 Special, from Montreal to the spring Carlisle car show in Pennsylvania. The car was the same midnight blue colour as this one, and we had no mechanical problems at all. Turning was more like changing course, the horizon tilted, and the passengers tended to slide outwards on the bench seats. No seatbelts of course! Great Interstate cruiser.
ОтветитьIt’s beautiful car!
ОтветитьJay or anyone taking care of Jay's social media, did Johnny Carson ever visit the garage? I think Jay would have mentioned it, but Johnny liked Jay enough to give him his Dad's car. Jay keeps most of his cars stock, only putting on better brakes or an upgraded cooling systems.
ОтветитьMom used to tell me the stories of when her and Dad were dating back in the 1960s. He was an auto mechanic and perpetually drove broken-down, clapped-out 1950s Cadillacs. She used to tell me, "Every one he ever owned, my window never went down!" 🙂
ОтветитьI believe the headlight control was called "Twilight Sentinel". My father had a '58 Coupe de Ville and a '63 Sedan de Ville which were in both cars if memory serves.
ОтветитьProbably the most desirable Cadillac model ever made.
ОтветитьThat’s my uncle! He never believed in insurance, or seatbelts..Union carpenter on ABC lot for over 50 years..
ОтветитьJay suffers from the same thing I do. Things don't seem as old as they really are. He says 60 years ago, but it was closer to 70 years. Jay is a national treasure!
ОтветитьIf wasn’t for guys like J “ real car men “. Youth would for the most part never see these works of art. I’ve been building cars for 25yr. What I’d give to walk threw Js collection and talk with cars with him.
ОтветитьMy Dad bought one just like this in 1961 ! Used of course but it was white and beautiful ! The only downside was was everything was vacuum. The windshield wiper was slow when you were stopping or going up a hill, but was a great car because I didn’t know any difference in vacuum or Not! I loved it!
ОтветитьJay, you really hit it out of the park with this 57 Caddy. I love the color and mods you made. Beautiful it is!!
ОтветитьAlmost a restomod, but just limiting yourself to making the car work 'well' in todays environment.
