All heritages as a lore video would be awesome! I noticed the lack of Half-Orcs in the list of common races in the video, are they replaced by Grudgels? I'm very intrigued

Hi, I have never used kickstarter before, so be kind and excuse my ignorance. I went to the link to be a play-tester, and it took me to the Kickstarter page... but I don't see any way for me to sign up other than to receive updates. Is it not available for play-test, or am I looking in the wrong place? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

At this point you don't even need to designate a race. Just be an amalgamation of stats and then just describe your physical appearance. No need to include race into the conversation. That is where this is headed.

Really gets me excited about the new kickstarter and yes on the heritages. Also would you be willing to make a video about dinosaurs/prehistoric creatures in a dark fantasy? I recently bought Dr Dhrolin's dictionary of dinosaurs, as a new 5E supplement and would love to have you guys do a scenario including these animals within Grim Hollow.

So, I've seen the "Heritage system" done first by Kobold Press's Tales of the Valiant system and now by Ghostfire Gaming. And I hate them both. These would be great rules for Dungeon Masters to custom-craft unique playable races for their own settings - as somebody who has a meta-setting with close to a hundred custom-made races that I was working on back when 5e first came out, this would have been a godsend back then. But they shouldn't be in the player's hands. What is even the POINT of player races under a system like this? Tasha's Cauldron of Everything officially decoupling ability score modifiers from race choice was a huge mistake for 5e, and its consequences on playstyle have been a disaster.

Would love a video on the heritages. I need to know more about the new Eldritch heritages and the Ogresh.

Despite disliking the mechanical direction for heritages, I will commend Grim Hollow on continuing its mostly excellent (I'm looking at you, Ogresh) record of intriguing, interesting and highly flavorful races that embrace the dark fantasy vibe without going full human supremacist the way settings like Ravenloft or Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay do.

I would not mind hearing about all the heritages in a lore video.

Very cool! My suggestion is to just separate the Attribute modifiers entirely from Race/Species AND Backgrounds - the latter being just a shift simply for the sake of not tying it to Races any longer. This is dumb and equally as limiting since the Backgrounds restrict the modifiers to specific options.
Just split the mods out entirely and REALLY let people customize as they please.

I love where Grim Hollow is going with all this! Also a bit worried though that apart from a bit of extra lore, some character options, and a better overall design it's not going to add much to the existing books/products. While I'd love to just slam down my money and grab some more of your stuff the reality is my financial circumstances have become even more restraining then they already are.

The system looks amazing. Have my vote for more videos.

Oh, ho! Custom you say? *knacks fingers * First off for missing true dragons check out Dungeon Dads videos ( shoutout! ). I got ALOT of inspiration to create Dragonborns out from those. Orange dragonborn with breath weapon having split fire+force dmg and resistance. Not AS strong as single element but more adaptable. Oily sodium spew making foes immolate or go kaboom if in contact with water. Yellow could be based on poison but its sodium rich water spew, chance to BLIND opponents and slow them. A Purple dragonborn would have split fire and lightning dmg/ resistance since plasma breath = ionized gas that ignites. Bam! And regarding Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer. I slot in GEM dragon ancestries! Something WotCtotally forgot updating that Sorcerer origin in Fizbans Treasury of Dragons, and since seemingly for them that source book is/ will still be relevant for the new 5e24, they SHOULD add those ancestries in the new PHB, even if they didnt add the separate sub species/ families of Dragonborns ( Chromatic, Gemstone, Metallic ) from Fizbans. Among them GEM dragonborn.

As a native German speaker I just want to point out, that „Wechselkind“ is a strange neologism (since it may be interpreted as a child received by a mother in menopause), to say the least. I think „Wechselbalg“ (= Changeling) is the term you are looking for.

It feels a little strange to have Wulven in the setting, but not Tieflings. You may want to integrate them, maybe just a bit less extreme in their visual design.

How are they a species if they're able to interbreed, they'd all be the same species if they could do that.

What I would love to have been explained in this video is the distribution of these traits. There are 8 traits, and you can pick and choose, but do you pick and choose until you have only 8? And can these be expanded upon as you level up or is this base character creation start and then done? Most systems I see is this is what you are, this is what you get, or a point system that lets you do entirely do too little for whatever fantasy you want to do like DC20's Ancestry system, starting with 5 points and after a few levels that's the end.
