There's a whole part to superman lore that a lot of villains know who he is. Except lex Luther because he has such a high opinion of superman as a god that he could never see Clark Kent as the same man. Ironically he loves Clark.

Anyway so a load of villains know who superman is but they deliberately don't do shit because when he's at his 9-5 he can't get in their way. And if they expose him they'll just get rid of that small amount of time.

Can you imagine the ass whooping that a villain would get if they targeted this house?

There's no money in it. Just some really dumb idea of glory that would instantly blow up in your face so hard that not only would all the hero's be after you. All the villains would kill you on sight because you are basically radioactive and you'd just bring trouble.
