Installing a New Kitchen Range Hood Replacing the Old Range Hood with an Updated Model

My range hood vents out the front. I want to get one that vents out a duct up in the attic like yours. You think I could just drill a hole in the ceiling if I get one that vents to the attic?

Thank you for posting this. Our range hood fell while I was cooking food for Thanksgiving last year and the fan didn't work anyways, so I got a new hood this year. Following this video helped me figure out how to change it out. Both of mine were ductless so I didn't have to mess with that part, but messing with the wiring was what had me worried. Got it changed out with no problems!

How would I remove the old and the cabinets above it and replace it with a chimney? Is it possible?

That's not duct tape... you're using DUCK tape. Duct tape is a metallic tape

I thought that the FlexDuct shown in the video Doesn't meat code?
I also thought that using Duct Tape was a Huge NoNo on Range Exhause?

This is good but don't use duct tape. Use foil tape instead. Duct tape becomes brittle over time.

Thank you for posting this. I'm hoping to replace our range hood soon and this helped me understand how it's done. Still am a little nervous about the wiring. Our current range hood is ancient and came with the house we bought. The model number has been painted over, so we don't have mfg reference.

Twist the wires first with pliers then put on the nut. Just putting the wires together and twisting a nut on them makes for a bad connection!

Finally someone explained how to get the knockout plates off!
